Rev. G. F. N. Atkinson of Bruce -
field has notified his congregation
that he is applying for leave to re-
tire from the active ministry at the
end of June and will be leaving
Brucefield at that time

The Varna WMS. held its Febru-
ary meeting at the parsonage The
Parr Line group was in charge of
Mrs. Geo. Reid taking the devotion-
al exercises. The call of Worship,
the meditation, a song, was follow-
ed by prayer by Miss Horn. Eleven
members answered roll call with a
favourite verse. It was decried to
order leaflets for Day of Prayer.
The study book was taken by Mrs.
L. Coleman and 'Pim. Will •Stephen-
son. Mrs •G Reid read the closing
prayer.

Mrs. Geo. Mason has returned
from the hospital ;and is doing nicely

ed _Melvin Deseardine's farm, on the
pollard line.

visited his mother, Mrs. Wm. Pat-

Miss Edith Kipfer of Grand Bend
had the. misfortune of fracturing her
arm last week when she fell on ice.
Her many friends wish her a speedy
recovery.
Citizens' Committee Formed
The community has organned
citizenscommittee to boost Grand
Bend along with the village trustees
with Fred Wilson as chairman. J.
W. Holt, ass't chairman, Mrs. Law-
rence Mason, secy-treas., Eric Mc -
Prey, Alvin Boseenberry include the'
executive with other committees to
be formed in the near future.
DASHWOOD
There will be a special meeting in
the Evangelical church on Sunday
evening, March 10th when the ladies
will have charge of the entire -meet-
ing. The guest speaker will be Mrs.
Lloyd Edighoffer of Mitchell who is
well known in the community. The
ladies chorus will provide the music.

are alloying into their fine new brick
home, just south of the Dominion
House. Their many friends wish them
many happy years together with
health to enjoy their lovely new resi-
dence. Their son Ross and family
are moving into the Dominion House.

We join the many friends of Mr.
Fred W. Hess, youngest son of Mr.
and Mrs. A. F. Hess of town, who
was successful in passing his final
exams. in the Faculty, of Medicine,
University of Toronto. And now
will be known as Dr. F. W. Hess.
Dr. Hess was a recent visitor in Zur-
ich with his parents, having just re-
turned from a motor trip to Florida
with some other friends, students.
Dr. Hess is taking his Internship at
the Western Hospital, Toronto.
Farm Foruin
A very enjoyable as well as profit-
able evening was spent at the home
of Mr. and Mrs. 0. Greb when mem-
bers of the Babylon line Form Forum:
gathered for the monthly review
meeting. Dr. R. H. Taylor, MLA.,
was bhe visiting speaker, and revi-
ewed the topics discussed throughout
the season. Valuable information was
given ton such subjects as eelealth,
Federation of Agriculture, Subsidies,
etc. An open discussion followed
Dr. Taylor's remarks. The next me-
eting w be held at the home of Mr
and Mrs. Louis Schrag.
OBITUARY
Late Albert Gies
The funeral of the late Albert
Gies took place from the Westlake
Funeral Home, Zurich, on Friday
afternoon with interment following
in the Bronson line Evangelical cem-
etery. Mr. Gies who was in his
53rd year, was a son of the late
Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Gies and was
born and raised on the homestead,
Blind Line, Hay Township. Bei ng
a mute, he was sent to the school
for the deaf and dumb at Whitby,
which fitted him up to take his part
in life. despite his handicap, Albert
was always rather pleasant to be
around and lived alone in the home
he took over from his parents. Sur -1
viving are a sister, Mrs. D. Ruby, of
Cavalier, N.D., and a brother, John
Gies also of the West. One sister,
Lizzie had predeceased. He was a
cousin to Mrs. J. K. Ehlers and Mrs.
S Zimmerman of Zurich Ivor many
years he worked at his trade. ehoe
maker, at the Kitchener factories.
Rev. C. 13. Heckendorn officiated at
the funeral.

Preston—The United Church par-
sonage was the setting for a quiet
wedding when Ella McCormack.
daughter of Mr. and Mrs. H. INIcCor-
meek became the bride of Arthur
Keller of Preston, son of Mr. and'
Mrs. Conrad Keller, of Zurich. Rev.
F. C. Miller officiated
The bride wore a street -length
dress of pink and black, pink and
black straw hat and black accessor-
ies. Her bouquet was of Briarcliffe
roses. Mrs. R. .McCormack of Pres-
ton attended the bride, wearing
blue flowered frock with black acc-
essories, and bouquet of Better Time
roees. Robert McCormack, of Preston.
was best man.
After the weddingceremony a re-
ception was held at the home, of
the bride's parents, the bride'smoth-
er wearing brown crepe with gold ac-
cessories and corsage of Queen Eli-
zabeth roseee, The groom's gift to the
bride was a pearl necklace and mat-
ching .earrings; to the bridesmaid a
sterling -compact and to the beet
man, gold cuff links.
For the wedding trip to Niagara
Falls and Brittaio,-the bride wore for
travelling a lime green dress with
brown accessories and corsage of tal-
isman roses, Upon their return Mr.
and Mrs...Keller will make their home.
