NOTICE ire.: ZURICH CREAMERY To Patrons and Friends of the • Ziuriel Creamery: I wish to take this opportunity of announcing that I have sold: the Cl eamery business here to Mr: Chas. Minshall • of Ingersoll. is lit is with considerable regret, that my. business contacts come to) a. close- with the splendid folks whom;, itaias been my privilege and pleasure: to; have done business with during the part five years. I have sincereibet'ried tni always merit the wholehearted support and trust of the patrons, at all times, and the .response, which has been mine was only slightly*- short: of the full one hundred per• cent, and' has been greatly appreciated. More; than that, a mutual feeling of friend- ship seems to have grown between us, which has been very pleasant during our business associations, and shal'1' always be a pleasure: to, me, I am sure, to recall in the• future. Now, I wish to say something as an introduction of Mr. Minshall who comes to Zurich wiith a record:, otlioetg service in the Dairy Business, as a ,buttermaker, cheesernaker, and farm- er creamery owner. Though our acquaintance has been short, I wouldi judge him to be the type whom you will find to, be re- liable and conscientious in business, and in wham you should, be able to place your trust for fair. dealing. I would bespeak for him all the support that has been mine in the past, and as much: more new business as can be directed towards the local cream- ery. 1. firmly believe, myself, and think. few will disagree, that it is through the local businesses, and the support of them, that producers can realize the best returns for their pro- ducts. Again, soliciting your hearty sup- port on behalf of the Zurich Cream- ery and wish both. you, the patrons and customers, and Mr. Minshall the new operator, every success in the future, A. L. MELLETT. FIREMEN RETIRE Capt. Ed. MEAT RATIONING TO STAY Ottawa — Agricultural Minister Gardiner said in the Commons . the other day that Canada could not maintain her shipments of beef and pork to Britain in 1946 unless she continued to restrict domestic con- sumption. This statement was taken to indicate that the Canadian meat ration resumed in September will continue far into next year. Prime Minister Mackenzie King already has stated that rationing will continue through the winter. RATION SUPPLIES Effective January lst, pink coup- ons in ration hook five will be used for the purchase of sugar and pre- serves, under the new :simplified plan announced by the Ration Administr- ation. While the values of the coup- ons will be doubled consumers will 5 not receive any increases in ration allowances since two coupons will be- come valid each month instead of the present four of the separate sug- ar and preserves coupons. In the New Year the coupon may be used for the purchase of any one of one pound of sugar, 24 ounces of jam, jelly, marm- alade, fountain fruits or cranberry sauce, four pounds of honey, 80 oun- ces corn or table syrup, 80 ounces of molasses, 40 ounces of canned fruit, two pounds honey butter, 48 ounces maple syrup, four pounds of maple sugar. The allotment of sugar for home conning will be the same in 1946. • BORN Born — At the Farwell Nursing Home, Zurich on February 5th, to Mr. and Mrs. William Lawrence of Zurich, a son. Price Board officials said in a review of the world sugar situ- ation that there was little likelihood of the Canadian. sugar ration of ap proximately six ounces per persm per week being removed or even in creased during the next year. A spokesman said the "simple fact" was that there just wasn't enough sugar in the world to go around. Surplus stocks had been consumed and the world now was eating its "capital sugar." IT IS A IMERKET WHERE CON- TACTS ARE MORE FRIENDLY, SELLING MORE PERSONAL AND GOODWILL MORE IMPORTANT. THAT IS WHY EVERY NATIONAL PRODUCT CAN GAIN IN ACCEPTANCE AND SALES WHEN IT IS LOCALIZED. AND THE WAY TO LOCALIZE IT IS. TO ADVERTISE IT IN THE LOCAL KEEKLY NEWS- PAPER, OVER THE DEALER'S OWN NAME --WHERE HIS CUSTOMERS CAN SEE IT—WHERE HIS STAN- DING IN THE COMMUNITY SPONSORS ITS VALUE AND EXCELLENCE—WHERE IT GAINS THE SALES ADVANTAGE OF THE DEALER'S REPUTATION. Weekly newsapaer advertising is concentrated advertising. It is point of sale advertising. It is merchandising on the spot. It is coverage of a known and definite market. It helps the dealer to move merchandise off his shelves quickly and profitably. It gives him an interest in the merchandise advertised and an incentive to co- operate with the manufacturer to their mutual advantage.
