Presentation A very happy anniversary occasion was celebrated at the home of • Mr. and Mrs. Clayton- 0. • Smith of th.e Blue Water Highway; just south of St. Joseph, on Friday evening last when a number of their Zurich fri- ends arrived shortly after the six o'clock hour in the evening and the visiting ladies soon took possession of the kitchen and dining room and very shortly had under way known as a' "pot luck" supper, which of course always just "hits the spot" at meal time. After . all had partaken to the limit of their capacity at the supper table, an address was read and a suitable presentation made, to which the recipients replied very ap- propriately, thanking for this valued gift. The following address was read by Miss Joan Merner, and Miss Mary Lou Fritz made the presentation which consisted of a lovely plate glass wall mirror. February lst, 1946. Dear Mr. and Mrs.. Smith: It is with deep affection that we are present with you to -night, to celebrate the •32nd anniversary of your nuptial day. We have gathered here not because of duty but because of a -feeling within us that said, "we want to be there." All of us have fond recollections of this your home and family. To us as well as to countless numbers of others, the words "The Smiths" is synonymous with hospitality, gener osity and friendship. It is all too true that on many occasions we barged in on your gracious hospitality; at titres when the duties of farm work taxed your energies to a great extent. It was on such occasions that the test of friendship really stood up. Never was there anything too mucic for Mr. and Mrs. Smith, and the Boys. Well do we remember the many times we visited beneath the shelter of your home the annual spring journey to the sugar woods, scated in the covered wagon, the fun at the camp, gathering sap, and then a large plate of taffy and maple sugar to climax the evening. We are also pleasantly reminded of the countless other occasions on which we were together. Never did you stint yourselves to make us feel welcome.
