Toronto, also attending the Santa
parade in that city.
.The many friends of Mr. Conrad
Schilbe will be pleased ,6o read that
he has returned home from the hos-
pital and is progressing very favour-
ably after his accident.
The local committee of the recent
Victory Loan enjoyed being guests at
the Dominion House last 'Thursday
evening where they enjoyed a goose
dinner, after their strenious work.
Miss Patricia O'Dwyer has return-
ed to her duties in St. Joseph's Hos-
pital, London, as nurse -in -training,
after. spencling a few days;at the
home of her parents, D. and Mrs.
P. J. O'Dwyer.
Mr. and Mrs. Charles Bowden and
son Mark, of Brantford;; Miss Irene
Turkheim, nurse -.in -training at Strat-
ford General .Hospital, visited at the
hone of their mother, Mrs. E. Turk-
heim for a few days. '
Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth. Breaker,
Zurich, were week -end guests of Mr.
and Mrs. M. T. Corless, and on'their
return Sunday evening, were accom-

W. L to Re -Organize
The South Huron Women's Instit-
ute :is planning to reorganize bran-
ches which disbanded during the war
years and to organize more branches
in the district.
Evangelist Coming ,
Revival meetings will be held at
Zurich Mennonite Church from Nov-
ember 25th concluding December 2,
with an all day meeting. The Ev-
angelist will be Simon B. Martin, of
Kitchener, Ont. The public are in-
vited to attend.
Attended Anniversary
Rev. Reba Hern of Varna, • accom-
panied by Mr. and Mrs. Ed. ,Stelck
of Dashwood took in the Anniversary
of .the Shipka United Church. Rev.
Miss Hern being the guest speaker,
she preached a very impressive ser-
mon to answer the call for Mission-
ary work. The church being filled to.
capacity. The music given by the
choir was splendid, accompanied by
Mrs. Milt Ratz at the piano.

HAD ANNUAL MEETING
The annual meeting of the Zurich
Bible Society was held in St. Peter's
Lutheran church on Sunday evening
November 111:th, the meeting being
open for all churches interested in
this great work. Rev. E. Heimrich,
pastor of the church, was. the chair-
man and the scripture ,lesson. was
read by 'Rev. S. Baechler who also
led in prayer. The sermon of the
evening was given by Rev. C. B.
Heckendorn. The amassed choirs of
the churches gave a good aceount of
themselves, The church was, filled to
capacity, while the .offering amounted
to nearly 119.00. The :former officers
were re-elected; President, C. L.
Smith, vice press., the iocal Clergy,
Secy-Treas., P. J: Klopp, a very

The health and hospital committee
reported that Miss Gardiner, super-
visor of the school nursing plan, had
resigned and Miss Mildred Haberer
and Miss Jean Falconer are carrying
on the .,duties alone very capably.
Both nurses were present and gave a
resume of their work.
Report on teachers' salaries, in
North Huron the average salary was
$1,180; and now $1;292; in. !South
Huron the average salary in the rur-
al schools is $1;330; and in :grade
schools in towns and villages is $1,-
2182,
1;2182, .including the principals,
,Co. Council again requested the
Dept. of Agriculture for ar.B. test
for oattle in Huron. No action was
taken on resoultions regarding meat
rationing of a bounty for foxes.
Approval was given by the Coun-
cil to the recommendation of the pro-
perty committee that the proposed
new courthouse be ezecited on the.
present location, the council had al-
so viewed a proposed site at the jail.
Reeve Baker of •Goderich asked that
consideration be given in the plans of
the new building for rest room acc-
omodation. He said the town of God-
erich would co-operate in paying any
extra coat entailed.
A resolution. was endorsed addres-
sed to Hon. Geo. Drew in which con-
sideration was asked for the appoint-
ment of Dr- R. Hobbs Taylor, MLA.

Council approved a resolution that
the Education Act be amended to
provide for remuneration to anembers
of high, public, separate and .continu-
ation school boards, also a proposal
that the minister •of highways give
consideration to haveing the provin-
cial highways in Huron County bro-
ught up to standard. A by-law was
passed authorizing that the salaries of
the four county constables be incre-
ased from $11,200 to $1,400 with
$;1,020 for allowances.
The road commission reported im-
portant construction work at a cost
of $35,999 and new machinery had
been purchased of a caterpillar gra-
der and snowplow, one truck, one full
power hydraulic truck, snowplow and
three snowplows, six field artillery
tractors were purchased.
Reeve B. W. Tuckey stated that the
fine estate of the late Dr. Gunn, of
'Clinton would be available, fres of
cost for charitable purposes as an
addition to the Huron County Home.
Reeve Falconer of Clinton said that
the residence is in good condition and
the estate comprises three acres of
land. A notion that the property be
referred to the .County 'Horne Com-
mittee.
