playing in various communities. These

November 1.3th, and will be render-
ed in the basement of Zion Lutheran
Church, Dashwood, beginning at 8
o'clock, p.m. Judging from 'the
quality of the performance given last
year, residents of this community
can look forward to an evening sof,
pleasant entertainment by these tal-
ented Young People.

Rev. Jacob Henry Ehlers of Harris-
burg, Pa., former Dashwood Bay is
Guest Speaker.
The observance of the 50th Anni-
versary of Calvary Evangelical
church at Dashwood was a big suc-
cess -when friends and relatives from
Canada and the United States were
present for .the special occasion. Rev.
Jacob Ehlers a former Dashwood boy
and now field Secretary of the Pen-
nsylvania council of churches of H•ax-
risburg, 'Pa., delivered two very fine
sermons'at the morning and evening
service. Special musical' :lumbers
were rendered by the local enoir, solo
parts being taken by M. Harold
Simpson and Miss Marion Smith. At
the morning service Mr. T. Harry
Hoffman rendered a solo entitled,
"My Cathedral": Miss Lily Hoffman
of London, a former Dashwood girl,
was guest soloist for the evening
service, singing, "On the Highway to
Galilee" and "Spirit of God."

Crediton were Wednesday visitors at
the home of Mr. and Mrs. Ward Fritz
Local Red Cross
The following is .a list of knitted
articles sent to the Red Cross Head-
quarters by the Zurich Branch of the
Society: 24 pairs service sox, 5 high
neck sweaters, 7 prs. baby's soakers,
2 ladies' sweaters, 1 child's sweater,
15 prs. children's sox; We, of the
knitting committee wish to thank all
those who helped us complete these
garments for shipment.

packers along with their helpers are

Hall on the above date. Will all
you folk look over your surplus clo-
thh g, etc. and help this worthy cause

Had Moose Dinner
Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd O'Brien and
members of their family were at
Godorich oil Sunday visiting relati-
ves4 Lloyd advises us that they
were treated to a real Moose roast
dinner, as three Goderich hunters
had just returned from up north and
after the first day's hunting each of
the three had landed their moose and
so ,e urued home the next day. Few

mer Dashwood lady as chairman. This
was indeed a very informal and
touching service. Silent prayers Were
offered in memory of the departed
members along with speeches by two
ministers who had previously served
at the church. Rev. J. Grenzabach
of Elmira and Rev. H. Roppel of St.
Jacobs. During the service Dr. and
Mrs. Clarence Yager of Detroit pres-
ented the church with a beautiful
hymn board in memory of their par-
ents, the late Rev. and Mrs. W. J.
Yager, a former minister, and the
]ate Mr. and Mrs. William Ehlers.
This gift was accepted by Mr. R. A.
Goetz on behalf of the congregation.
Mrs. Clarence Yager of Detroit, a
former organist, presided at the
organ for this service and accomp-
anying her for the first hymn at the
Piano was Mrs. David Tiernan, the
organist 50 years ago.
The choir of 20 voices was com-
posed of former choir members who
had come home for the occasion. A
duet was given by Miss Matilda Mil-
ler of Toronto and her sister Mrs. G
Shore of Woodbridge. A ladies
quartette was sung by Mrs. Ed. Sie-
bert of Detroit, Miss Matilda Miller,
Mrs. Shore and Miss Cathern Fink-
beiner. A history of the church was
given by M•r. Daniel Weber, a trustee.
Letters from friends who could not
attend were read by Mr. J. M. Tie -
man, chairman of the Administrative
Council. -
The church was beautifully decor-
ated with mums and palins, one bou-
quet being :given by the Ladies Aid.
Two beautiful baskets of mums were
placed in front of the altar by Rev.
and Mrs. Ehlers and Mrs. S. Godkin
of Vancouver, B.C., formerly (.Han-
nah Baker), in memory of their par-
ents, brothers and sister.
Lunch was serval in the base-
ment which was suitably decorated
in white and gold. A large Slayer
birthday cake centred the table which
was decorated with gold s Ears 60's
and harps at either end were 3 gold
candies in crystal holders and baby
mums in crystal Swans. In the base-
ment, also was a min titure church
nide by Mi°s. S. P. Currie Which was
surrounded with a collection of old
photographs which proved. ve y in-
teresting.
The offering exceeded $1,000.

The Ninth Victory Loan is progres-
sing very favourably and the canvas-
sers are working hard and are get-
ting results. Now that we have the
peace it will take a lot of our dollars
to preserve this peace. Zurich- and
Hay West are in fifth place well up
near the top according to the last
bulletin we received, No. 7, and over,
55% of the quota has been subscrib-
ed. or the total of $70,750. Let's''
all get behind the business and push
it over the top like all former loans.

birthday. Mrs. Bassow is quite smart
for her age, and takes much enjoy-

60th ANNIVERSARY
Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Gascho of
Zurich, celebrated the 60th Anniver-
sary of their wedding Day, on Sun-
day, October i21st at the home of
their youngest son, Mr. and Mrs,
Edwin (leecho at Zurich. They were
married October 20th 18115 in
i,lornintton Township by Rev, Joseph'
Gerber. Mrs. Gascho's maiden naive
was Barbara Erb. They levee on a.
farm 011 the 14th Concession Tlay
Township for 34 years, moving to
Zurich in 1919. All the members of
the family, five sons and three dau-
ghters, also eleven grandchildren and
WO great grandchildren were pres-
ent for this occasion. A photo was
taken of the family group in the
same setting as the one taken 25
years ago. They received many,
congratulations and good wishes.
