put and 2nd prize for hop -step. ,Tim
Pass received fourth prize I'm' pole
vault. This shows a very fine record
for our boys as this was their first
experience in attending a Field Met
on so large a scale.

Huron Plowmen's Association renew-
) ed its annual plowing match, after
I four years of wartime cancellation.
Held on the farm of Benson Sowerby

•entrants, of whom 13 plowed with
'tractors. More than 1,000 people ar-
lived as. speetators,•but the executive
,of the association felt that both con-
teStants -and spectators would have
been •ever more numerous if so
-many farmers had not been taking

William Oliver, former constable
I, at Grand Bend, passed away at his
clone ilot Wednesday' in his '78th
year after an illness of two years.
)5r. ;Myer who was a widely known
man, had been a cementer and con-
tractor at Grand Bend for years, be-
sides having served for a time as
constable. In his police connections
he was an honorary member of the
Lambton !County force. Surviving
are his wife,
formerly Alice Hamilton
end a son, Ware, �f St. Marys. A
private funeral service was held on
Saturday afternoon at 2 o'clock at
the Thome, followed by service in the
Grand Bend United Church at three
o'clock. Burial followed in the Grand
Bend Cemetery.
