St. Joseph and Beaver Town
Mrs. Josiah Sararas of the Blue
Water south left on Sunday cast to
spend a few weeks in Detroit with
friends and relatives.
Mr. and Mrs. Victor Brisson and
Miss Doris ,Cantin all of Detroit we-
re week -end visitors with their par-
ents at St. Joseph.
At time of writing we are having
a streak of nice weather and framers
are at a- loss as to where to start
their work. Owing to the very back-
ward fall, we believe, the most urg-
ent .work will be picking up beans.
Those that are not through pulling
are at it now. Pulling and drawing
in at the same time, and'by the time
they have a full load on there is not
much left in a five acre field. The
sample will not be too bad and with
the urgent necessity of food at pres-
s..., .teedisdesse..s,...esusisitsssestibasserso..
Bere and there -;fou see the odd
farmer pulling potatoes, and they too
are a big failure. Still, we in this
fair country with abundance, we
should be satisfied and thankful for
what we have. For right to -day the
future is bound to bring about next
to starvation in many countries of
the world, and yet we in this country
so far and so replenishing to her
people forget to be thankful for it
all. Many have not felt the horrors
of the war; the sacrifice of some lov-
ed one, the grief which entailed on
them, and still many in the midst of
it all are not satisfied.
