Leo Desjardine Pasfses -^ Leo Desjardinie died suddenly on. Tuesday, April 2nd from a -heart at- tack at his residence in Grand Bend Two years ago he was severely bur- ned while working with the ,Constru- ction 'Company at the local ,airport. He moved to the Bend three years a- go from a faun where he has Iived previously. He is survived by his. wife, Amelia; two daughters, and 7 sons, and four sisters, and one bro- ther Emery of Grand 'Bend. He was a son 'af Mr. and Mrs. Andrew Desjardine and was raised near this Village.. Funeral services were held on Friday followed by interment in Grand Bend cemetery. Rev. P. Fla.zbard, who have recently moe4 d in their 'property at the east end la the village. zumptt.AND DISTRICT ,y• VE DAY CEL1El3iRATION .rit a 3neetink held: in-. the Town Hall, Zul'ich, Tuesday evening, April 10, and attended by representatives of the Township Council, the Village Trustee Board, the Clergymen, the teachers•, the Red Cross Society, and other local organizations, plans were made for the celebration of nearing VE -Day. .Services will be neld in the churches TWO HOURS- after the news of victory in Europe is received provided that such mews be received between 6.00 a.m. and 8 .p.m, If word is received during the night, services • will be held at 10 a.nl. the following day. A committee was ap- pointed to set the time for a public demonstration to follow the church services and to consist of a parade, commnuwnitysinging, and addresses by leading citizens. All school children will meet at Zurich school tram which the parade will start. The time of the public 'demonstration will be an- nounced at the church services. ANNUAL MEETING. Karl Haberer Heads. Hay Township Federation of Agriculture The annual meeting ,of the Hay Township Federation ,of Agriculture was held in the Zurich Town Hall on April 4th in •conneotion with a well attended banquet. The .pro,grann by the three participating schools was well rendered and appreciated by all present. Prof. 3. C, Stecielcy, O.A.C. of Ridgetown, was guest epeaxer and spoke on the subject "Where do We go from Here." In spite of the fact that farm labour has decreased by 50 per cent yet there being an in- erease, of farm production of su:n•e 40 p.c., and a .better community spirit 'prevailing, but he forcasts a pitfall in the re -adjustment period and advo- cates strong farm organizations and co-operative marketing to prevent a slump in farm products. Mr. H. Sturdy, President of the Huron County Federation, outlined some of the Federcltion achievements and one-fifth mill levy on farm laude.
