"Blue Smock" workers have knitted hundreds
of thousands of pairs o£ socks ... made

Other specially -trained volunteer women serve
as drivers, as nursing aides, as office workers

'Mr. Morris Weber is at present in
Clinton Hospital taking treatments.
Pte. Bill Weiss was a week -end
guest at the home of Mr. and Mrs.
Wm. Dietrich.
'Mrs, Alex. McConnell of Varna,
was a visitor at the home of Miss
Jane Lamont early this week.
.Mr. and Mrs. Mervyn .Stelek of
Bradford are spending a few days
in this vicinity also attending the
Stelck auction sale on Wednesday.
Mr. and Mrs. Ed. Hartman and
Rose Marie and Mrs. Donnelly • and
baby of :Goderich were Sunday visit-
ors with Mr. and Mrs. Kim. Hartman
Mr. Max. Turnbull of the Blue
Water Highway, south, had the mis-
fortune to have part of his large
finger clipped off in the root puiper.
Mr. and Mrs. Henry Flaxbard,
who recently had an auction sale on
the farm they recently sold to Mr.
Louis S;chrag, ;of the Babylon line,
Hay, have moved into their residence
at the easterly part of town.
Mrs. E. G. Krueger and children
and Mr. EIwood Truemner of the
14th Con. spent ,Saturday at London
and were accompanied hone by Mrs.
Mary Truemner of town who receiv-
ed treatment at Victoria Hospital for
her eyes.
The Bethany Sisters Bible Class of
the Evangelical church held a social
att,the home of Mrs. E. Hey on Thurs
day evening, a delicious supper was
served and the evening was spent in
singing, etc. Mr. Josiah Geiger Is the
teacher of this crlass.
Red 'Crass canvassers are making
the rounds and meeting with good re-
sponse. While most of us cannot go
to protect our ,country, but here is
a chance where we can back up the
boys over there who are fighting our
battles. 'Hive- you done your hit?...

Zurich Lions Club was a big success,
the patronage being, that could
be looked for. The proceeds for the
day were about $100 net. This mon-
ey will all be used for welfare pur-
poses.
Waste Paper Collection
Zurich School pupils will collect
waste paper and rags .on Tuesday,
March 27th. Waste paper should be
SECURELY in bundles of a conven-
'ent size. Smooth -finished magazines
etc., should be placed in separate
bundles, rags should be in ,bundles or
tin bags. Materials for collection
should be placed in front of homes
by noon, Tuesday, March 27th,
OBITUARY
The lateGeorge Becker, a• life-
long resident of Hay Township; died
at his home Dashwood, on Tuesday
in his 71st year, after a brief illness.
,Surviving are his wife, a daughter
Hilda and son Amil. The funeral is
being held from the T. Harry Hoff-
man Funeral Hoene on Friday after-
noon at. 2.30 p.m., followed by a
service in Zion Lutheran churn at 3
p.m. interment will follow in the
Lutheran Cemetery.
William Davis Passes
William Davis a resident of Dash-
wood for the past 17 years died on
Monday March 19th in St. Joseph's
Hospital, London in his 83rd year.
Born in Urborne Twp. he formerly
lived in London and Exeter. He was
a member of the Dashwood Lutheran
church. Surviving are his wife and
two daughters, a son, and a brother
Joseph of Exeter. Funeral is being
held on Wednesday from the T. H.
Hoffman Funeral home, with inter-
ment in Exeter cemetery. Rev. T.
Luft 'officiating.
Fatal Burning Accident
His entire body aflame when a coal
oil :can exploded as he was lighting a
fire in his home, on Wednesday
morning last at Grand- Bend, .Richard
Masse, 29 'was in a very bad condit-
ion when a neighbor, R. Page, saw
the mean's plight and went to his as-
sistance. Dr. P. J. ;O'Dwyer of Zur-
i.ch and I)r. J. Dunlop of Exeter were
called and had the suffering patient
removed to St. Jostr,. a .. ,
London in 1-1offman's ambulance,
where he passed away on Tuesday
morning. Surviving.;' aft; his 0, now,
four small children, his parents, Mr.
and Mrs. James Masse of St. Joseph,
9 brothers and tt sisters, being a

The funeral will take place on .Fri-
day morning at St. Peter's Chureh,
Drysdale at 9.30 when funeral mass
will be sung.by the Parish priest Rev.
