the subscribers of the Slay Municip
al Telephone :System. Mr. W. 11'.
Haugh the reeve, acted as chairman.
The auditors' report for 1944 was
read to those present. It showed
that the System had its credit bonds
to the value of $5,000.00; Bank bal-
nice of $6,169.38, and surplus for
the year's operations $2,23.3:38, Mr.
H. G. Hese and T. H. Hoffman gave
an interesting account of the system
under their supervision,
The Council then resumed its re-
gular Township meeting. The min-
utes of the previous meeting were
read and adopted.
The reeve then called for the read-
ing of tire Engineer's Report on the
Truemner Drain to audience of in-
terested persons.'
The motions resulting from the
business were as follows:
That the Engineer's Report on the
Truemner Drain be read the first.
time and that the Clerk be authorized
to have a sufficient number of copies
of 1 e by-law printed and delivered
to all assessed persons and that _ a
Court of Revision on the above drain
by-law be held on the 5th day of
March, 1945 at 2.00 p.rn.
That the Township order a numb-
er of carloads of Government wood,

a special meeting later in Feb. for
settlement.
That the Hay Municipal Telephone
System pay to Hay Township rent
for office space at the rate of $35.00
per• year for 1944 and 1945.
That the Clerk attend the Convene
tion of the Ontario Association of
Rural Municipalities, and the Reeve
and Road Superintendent attend the
Good Roads Convention to tie held in
Toronto.

Rev: 'Father Lucier visited at his
hone in Wallaceburg for the week-
end. Father Flyn of Loneron took

Boniface church., Zurich.

ters of business was the appointment
of a president to fill the vacancy of
the recent departure from the riding
of Dr. A. R. Campbell of Hensall. It
was unanimously decided that this
very important position be given to
Mr. Albert Xalbfleisch of Zurich, and
his many friends wish to congratu-
late lura on this new office.

OBITUARY
There passed away in Ray Town-
ship on Sunday, February 11th, Eli-
zabeth Lippert, beloved wife of John
Tniebner, in her 63rd year, The fun-
eral took place from the Rowe Fun-
eraI Hoene, Exeter on Tuesday after-
noon with interment following in the
Exeter Cemetery.
Late Mrs. John Oesch
The death took place at her home
in Zurich, on Sunday, February llth
of a well known and highly respect-
ed resident in the person of Mrs.
Anna Theiler, widow of the late John
Oesch, passed to her eternal. Maker,
after suffering for 12 years from the
effects of botulism poisoning which
had been fatal to her son Ivan, at
that time, and which created wide
interest in the medical profession.
The Tate Mrs. Oesch was a native of
Switzerland, and was in her 73rd
year, and camp to Canada wr'th her
parents when three yeasts of age,
the family residing on the 14th con-
cession, Hay Township wnere the
children grew up, and hes Been a.
resident of the community ever since,
having lived on a farm with her hus-
band two miles north of Zurich, tilt
a few'years ago when they ,roved to
Zurich; the husband pre -deceased
