Mrs. Clarence Cassidy, Kincardine,
wife of a service man and their four
children ate homeless as the result of
an early morning blaze which gutted
their ,home. Overheated pipes are
blained for the outbreak. Firemen
fought the stubborn blaze but only
a few effects were saved by early ar-
rivals on the scene.
House Goes up in Flames
We have seen several accounts of
articles of brushed rayon going up
in smoke. Iona Henderson had a
house coat of this material that did
just that; It was hanging in a cloth-
es cupboard and in searching for
something near is Mrs. Henderson
lighted a match and almost before
she could call .for help the flames
had enveloped the coat. They died
quickly and no further 'damage was

Qets Life Sentence
Robert Wm. Turner, 19, was sen-
tenced in eircuit court, Detroit, to
life imprisonment following his con-
viction on a charge of killing 14 -.yeas
old Joyce Raulston, - daughter of the
late Gerald Fitton, formerly of Exe-
ter, on March 27. Turner Was arrest-
ed June 27 ancl• confessed the killing
while Richard Vincent, 23, was be-
ing tried for the crime. A confes-
sion .by Vincent also had been an-
nounced but at the trial he denied
the slaying and said he had been for-
ced to make the confession
