Crop Report
.aBaker).. n epte /9'53
e;eent rains have hasaenea the
sawing of fall wheat and assisted
gizeatly in the ease of plowing and
cultivation. As yiet only a small
percentage of',the fall wheat is :sown.
Fall pastures which were previously
quite dry have also .been increased
by the recent rain. In the cash crop
areas the harms*est, iotf beans has been
tihe order of the 'day and fairly high
yields have beeln reported, even
though the hot spell of two weeks
ago hastened the harvest. All corn
craps have .been making excellent
growth and high yields are anticip-
ated:
FALL FAIRS
As we are now in the midst of
the fall fair season and the past week
has not been very good for same.
Westeen Fair took a beating with
the cold and wet weather by having
a decrease of 45,979 attendance ov-
er last year, which anean;s a big thing
when it coins to the treasury. Only
Thursday was the attendance greater
than last year. Thursday of this week
Exeter Fair will be held ana the
weatherman ,promises warmer and
dry'weather• for the next few days,
and farmers will badly need it to get
in the many thousands of 'bushels of
beans that are out in the fields. But
don't forget, the Zurich Fair on Tu-
esday Sept. 1219th, take a few hours
off in the afternoon and come out to
attend this annual event, it will be
worth your while to see all the ex-
hibits, and enjoy the various enter-
tainments, midway, etc. Bring the
whole tflarnily out and don't forget the
concert in the Community Centre in
the evening, this will be fun galore.

was:: Mr. Reg. 1.1. Bousl:eld, Ont. step.

a worthwhile message. The Zurich

year's work end truly they save ac-
complished mane things that would
otherwise have not been done. Let
us ,all ,get ;behind there organizations
