The Liberal party is again swept in ?power_with an .overwtelm- ing power. Early reports from the easterly parts as far as Newfound- land went staid for the goirernment. But the St. Laurent government will have a large clear majority over ali ether combined parties., which give them full control of the affairs of the country. Here in the newb'l formecr riding of Huron, the P. Conservative .candidate Elston -Cardiff of Huron North was the. winner defeating his opponent, Andrew Y. McLean of Seaforth by around a, thousand votes. At first it was a neck to neck race, but as the reports came in from the northern part of th'e' riding the C.P..candidate kept on pining. Bay Township gave the Liberalits usual three hundred or so majority, Hensel). went C. P. by about 215, usually breaks even, but Exeter went strong 02. However, four years is not very long and then there will be another .elecien and the people .can again choose who they want, We are indeed glad for this plan of choosing our leaders, and this was shown by the large vote polled.
