CUNNINGHAM - SMITH
The home of Mr and Mrs Chester 1
L. Smith, Zurich, effective with
baskets of carnations and baby mums
along with candelabras reflecting
beautiful shades of colour was the
lovely setting for the marrrage of
their only daughter Mae Ingold, to
Patrick J. Cunningham. son of Mr.
and Mrs. Jahn Cunningham, of South
porcupine.
Rev. H. E. Roppcl of the Evang-
elical United Brethren Church offi-
ciated, while 1VIrs, Harry G. Hess,
wood, having lost a valuable and
:much prized diamond ring while
coming to Zuridh one evening. She
inserted an adv. in the Herald and,
it did the trick, now she is happy
being in .possession of this valued
article and thanks to the honesty
and kindness of the finder,

Jean Narcisse Cantin
On Thursday, June 18th this corn-
munity was shocked by the sudden
passing of Mr. Jean N. Cantin in his
63rd year. The deceased was the
elder son of the late N. M. Cantin,
the 'founder of this Village 01 St:
Joseph, back in 1896. He was the
oldest member of the family of ten
children and if we recall, attended
the St. Joseph separate ,school for
some time. Later on the c eceased
attended College and the Royal Mil-
itary -College at Kingston. From then
on he received fast promotion in
Military life, having attained the
rank of Squadron Leader. The
body rested at the Hoffman Funeral
!tome, Dashwood till Monday morning
when requiem high mass was sung.in
St. P'eter's Church, St. Joseph, by
M'onsign'or Win. Bom:'deau. Tne pro-
cession to the grave was largely at-
tended and (being Militarv. For
this +pari.dh in our recollection it was
the ]Inst such, and all who took part
in the Ieeremoniy were much impres-
sed at the great honor bestowed on
one of the members of this parish.
We join -with Mrs. 'Cantin ancr other
members to offer our deepest sym-
pathy. The deceased leaves to mourn
his loss, his 'wife, two • brothers, Jos-
eph of Sit. Joseph and Louis of
Montreal; three sisters, Mrs. John
Woodcock, (Josephine) of Montreal;
Mrs. Albert Bourque, (Antionette)
of Detroit; and MTs. Edward Lap-
orte, (Anne) of St. Clair, Miih.
Previously deceased were: SVladeline,
1Vlarie, Oliver and Napoleon, the hit -1
ter died three months ago• The 1
family have the sympathy of a large
circle of !friends,
style.
Mr. Jack Fasken was the grooms-
man. The bride's mother chose a
dress ,of Queen Elizabeth navy 71ue
of crepe Romain nylon with ruffled
lace, with corsage of pink carnations.
After the reception which was'!
held in the Dominion House, Zurich.,
the happy couple left for Washing-
ton, D.C. As a going sway dress the
bride chose a tangerine red summer
suit with navy accessories and carried
ay-ellow duster coat.
A host of warm wishes accompan-
ied the young couple as they left for
played the wedding music. their future home in Pembro.=.e, Ont.

Her only attendant was Mrs Jack
Fasken of Elore, who wore yellow

ballerina length was in bouffant ,Mrs. Arthur Haugh of near Dash -

holidaying with her grandparents,
Mr and Mrs Ed. Stelck.
Mr and Mrs Ray Snell of London
spent the week -end with Ray's par-
ents, Mr and Mrs 'Charles Snell.
Mrs. iWm. Mason spent last week
with her nephew and family, Mr and
Mrs Gordon Eagleson at Southamp-
ton. She returned with other friends
who were also up the lakes.

on Monday evening, June 212. A

Late Ralph Stephenson
Mr:_ Ralph Stephenson, well known
resident of the Parr Line, Stanley,
passed away !on Sunday, June 21st
at the home of his daughter, Mrs.
David Johnston, La Riviere, Man.,
where he had gone two months ago
on a visit. In his 92nd year, he was
born on the ,Goshen Line and was
a member of Varna United Church.
Surviving are three daughters, Mrs.
Johnston, Mrs. Wes Cockerline, Pil-
ot Mound, Man; Mrs. 'Ellyn, Reid,
Seaforth; one son, IWnt. R. Stephen-
son, Hensall. The body is resting at
the Bonthron Funeral Haeme, Hensall
till 2 .p.m. Thursday 25th. private
funeral Friday 26th. Rev. T. 3. Pitt
will be the officiating minister. In-
terment in Bayfield Cemetery.
