Lions Diet. Governor. Vic Dinnin,
T. C. Haberer, Ed. •Gascho and Geo.
Deiehert attended a large Lions me-
eting at Norton Palmer Hotel, Wind-
sor last week, at which Canadian
Lions President Merrill of Lethbridge
Alberta was the guest speaker. There
was a large attendance or Lions
present. Our Lions, not being able
to find night's lodging in Windsor,
crossed the river to Detroit, where
they managed to get "bed and hoard"
as the saying goes.

One of the old landmarks or Zur-

smith shag, for the last number of
years being occupied .by Mr. Eddie
Weltin who followed this trade, and
the past few years the rear was
occupied by Mr. Earl Zimmer, welder
has been sold by the owner, Miss

it as an implement repairing shop.
We have no data on how Octlthe
building could be, but we know it is
one of the oldest hi town. Mr. Ed.
Weltin who has been blacksmith all
his life will retire from active duty,
while Mr. Zimmer for - the present
will move his equipment to the rear
of his dwelling.

real hard •luck, were outskored by a
considerable margin. But they boun-

ANNUAL MEETING
AND BANQUET
The annual meeting and Banquet
of the Hay Township Federation of
Agriculture was held in the large
Cornmunity Centre 1',ast Thursday ev-
ening when a little over 300 people
u : sat down to the sumptuous hot tur-
key dinner provided by the Ladies.
Aid of the U. B. Evangelical Church.
The spacious hall being nicely titled,
and the large crowd was in very good
spirits. The president, Delbert Geig-
er, acting as master of ceremonies,
and introduced all who were at the
head table; the secretary Cliff Pep-
per read last year's minutes. The
chairman then called an several of
the County Federation lofficials who
gave their reports. These included Mr
Bob '1McKercher, the County Fed.
President who introduced the guest
3 speaker of the evening, Steve Stro-
thers of Lucknow, who was the first
Agric. Representative of Huron Co-
unty, and remembers many incidents
of those pioneer days, that was 35
years ago. Mr. Strothers is a very
humorous after dinner speaker, with.
•oi abundance of whitty happenings, he
tells his things well, and scums to
weave• one incident into another, has
15' a good memory and the ability to
keep a large crowd in attention and
much laughter. He told us about a
trip he had to the Maratimes last year
which was interesting. At the close
of his address Carl Oestreicher mov-
ed a hearty vote of thanks to Mr.
Strothers. The entertaining part, of
tthe evening was then turned over to
Lloyd Wright and his troup a.rom
London, who did their part to make
everyone Laugh. After this Co.
Pres. Bob 'McKercher took the chair
and conducted the re -organization
exercises whichresulted as follows.
Pres., Carl Oestreicher; Vice Pres.,
Lloyd Hendrick; 2nd Vice Pres.
