It is generally felt that the situ-
ation of going from bad to worse in
the matter of the use of alcoholic
beverages. More liquor is being sold
There is more drunkenness. There
are more infractions of the law and
nios•e accidents due to intoxication.
In Canada` '1 emperftnce Act territory
there is the attempt to invacte the
law by the bottle camouflage. It
is gratifying however that the ofric-
ers of the law have not been idle.
Charges have been laid. Convictions
have been obtained. It is a commun-
ity's good fortune it its guardians of
the law are vigilant. Moreover In a
situation that is deteriorating their
responsibility is all the heavier.

Mrs. Christian Erb, 82, wo died
at her home Wellesley, on Octber 16,.
at the home of her daughter, Mrs.
Irvin Lebold, was a native of Hay
Township, and before her marriage
was Elizabeth Oesch. Her husband
died in 1950. Surviving are two'sons
and six daughters, a brother and two
sister; The funeral was herd ,on
>unday by Bishop Samuel Schultz at
