ZURICH, ONTARIO, THURSDAY MORNING,
The Voice of Temperance
at is a hopeful sign when. certain
business organizations rile :prespec-
tive employees -"Do you use alcohol -
k beverages?" If the answer is in the
.affirmative the jab will remain opee.
Even a well-known brewery -magnate
makes this regulation mandatory for
certain positions. It would be well
for ambitimis young people to nave
in mind this leading question -"Do
you drink?". Their answer will either
open .or .clo.se doors of opportunity
before them.-Advt.
OUR RESPONSIBILITY
It's •our responsibility to Look af-
ter the :children in our county wno
have no homes. These are the young-
sters who thru no fault of their own
are deprived of a normal family life.
Some of them are babies, others are
any age up to and including 16 years.
The Children's Aid Society of Hur-
on is your organization thru which
you discharge your responsibility for
these children. By paying your taxes
you have a share in providing a leer -
mai Childhood and home for at least
192 children in •the County each year.
What Does It Do?
Last year the Society supervised
178 children in their own homes so
they would not have to become wards
Mere were 82 unmarried mothers
who looked to the Society for prot-
ection and proper care for their bab-
ies. There were 26 children placed
for adoptIon.
Can You Help Us?..
There are those children who, for
various reasons, are not adoptable.
Our .problem is to place them in well-
chosen !homes for a temporary period.
These fleeter homes •mnst have loath
parents, love, happiness and security
with an adequate -standard of living
and where the children can share the
opportunities and responsibilities of
the home. Fester parents receive $18
a month and the Society assumes
full responsibility for all medical and
dental •care as well as ,clothing. Also -
the SoCiety assists teeter parents to
