An abundance of food, good hospitality, and splendid entertainm- ent made this one of the best such events held by this enterprising. con- cern. • Welcome Thaw The milder weather and thaws the beginning of the week were indeed very welcome, to take away some of the ,big mountains of snow that had piled up the last few weeks. Driv- ing through the country as will as around towns one can hardly realize what a tremendous power is behind the modern snow plow, as Well as the men who operate them. It. takes a lot of real courage and rugednese to push these heavy machines through the massive snow ,banks, cutting a way for the motorist to drive tin his comfortable machine. After tlie few deys of thawing, these still are high hanks of snow, in many places six and eight feet high, one can Hardly imagine what height they werewhen at their best. Hewever, all main Highways are now as bare as in the summer and driving is safe, and ev- erything is ready for another; big ' low which will likely .comezaiong one of these days, as the weatherman is much that way inclined seemingly this winter.
