HOCKEY NEWS
The local hockey season opened
here ion December 28th with a barg-
ain. bill doubleheader in which the
local :Midgets engaged the Colborne
team winning by the score of 5 to 4
Parker scored one goal with doubles
going to, Armstrong and Hay. For
Colborne Jewell and D. Yungbtut
each scored once with Chisholm get-
tng two, Everything considered the
local youngsters did very well and
improvement is expected as the sea -
on •gi ,es on. ,There were many fans
in this district who failed to attend
these games, but we feel sure that
hereafter the attendance will be gre-
atly increased due to the fact that
they missed some really nice hoceey.
This is particularly true as ral as
the Juvenile Team is concerned. Ouri
Inds tangled with the bighly tooted
Atwood boys and this turned out to
be fast skating ding-dong battle from
the opening face-off. It would be
unfair to try and pick individual
eters, but mention must be made of
steady defensive work of Doug O'-
Brien and Jack Ha.berer. These two
not only played fine hockey defens-
ively but were a tower of strength on
the .offence. All the forwards play-
ed well and hard, giving everything
they had, which they had to do to.
beit this strong team from Atwood
8 to 7, Don OBrien Billie Hess,
Doug O'Brien and Billie Yungblut
all tallied once with Yungblut gett-
ing the ty-breaker and winning mar-
ker 28 seconds of full time. Ge:rge
