gross to them the past year, was
probably one of contentment, one
that they enjoyed and one of prosper
ity. To them, let us not have an -en-
vious eye, but td others wzio have
passed the year in sorrow, pain, sick-
ness
ickness and perhaps from daffy to day
living a life in distress and with no
bright future for them; to those,
let us show our deepest sympathy,
and give them words of encourage-
ment. Much of this grief for loved
ones, who a year ago, were number-
ed in the family festival where as
this Christmas they will spend it on
the battlefield in foreign lands. Cold
hungry aznd thirsty to meet their,
roved tones, while manly others have
paid with their Iives the supreme
sacrifice, such are the many incid-
ents that we are faced with year at:
ter year, and of such we have Iro
control.
On this coming Christmas only a
few days away, those of us who live
in a land of freedom, let us not ter -
get the Babe in the Crib; let our
thoughts be with those who are not
privileged to do so on this great fes-
tival day. The Christian World will
fon that day bow in reveanece to a
New Born Saviour, who will be there
to shower us with graces. On this
•Christmas Day and those to follow,
let us ask the Infant Child to in-
pirse those who are vested with
power to rule, to meet their agressot
not with a sword in hand but •rather
a crucifix, the emblem of Faith; per-
haps that would be more effective.
