Hay Township Councillor Valen-
tine Becker of Dashwood itam purch-
ased the twelve acre strip of land
just west of the Zurich Fair Grounds
from Mr. . Conrad Siert-1,-m. While
this is more land than Mr. Becker
NI requires, he was obliged to take the
entire 12 acres in order to get the
frontage along the highway, where,
we, understand, he intends erecting
a large storage building for farm
machinery and equipment. Mr. Beck-
er & Sons have at Dashwood erect-
ed a most magnificent place for this
kind of business, and we know they
will be doing something worthwhile
in Zurich to serve the community in
this vicinity.

gift to the December meeting for the
War Veterans at Westminister Hos-
pital. Mrs. Roman Meidinger presid-

WHOM WOULD YOU SAVE?
If the world were doomed and you
could choose only 44 persons for a
new lease on, another planet, whom
would you save? Author Philip
Wylie, writing in this Sunday's (No-
vember 25) issue of The American
Weekly, exclusively with Detroit
Sunday Times, tells whom he would
select under such circumstances. Be
sure to get Sunday's Detroit Times.
A LOT OF SNOW
A rather confusing picture of win-
ter took form over Western Ontario
last Saturday night, when in the city
of London a fall of 16 inches was
reported which blocked many roads
and plows and all equipment was
called out to keep the main lanes of
traffic open. Here in Zurich we did
not experience quite a heavy a fall
of snow, but there was plenty, and
with the wind whipping it up and
more snow falling all day Saturday,
the hanks became quite high. Then
we are told just north of Bayfield on
up to Goderich there ,was very little.
Zurich streets received their second
plowing on Tuesday, and most of
the homes are about dug out by now.
This heavy, fall and cold. is a bit
early, and will give us a long, long
winter if it keeps up.
