Miss Margaret Becker who atten-
ded Normal School at London, has
secured a school at Blake.
School re -opened on Tuesday with
Mr. Reid as !Principal and Miss Marke
and Miss Stonehill as assistants.
Mr and Mrs Amil Becker and fam-
ily and Mrs. Becker Sr. spent the
holiday week -end with friends in
Kitchener.
St. Joseph and Beaver Town
The Misses Charolette Laporte and
Serephine Bedard of Windsor spent
the past week -end in the former's
home on the Blue Water Highway.
Mr Leo Pierre Ducharme, agent of
the Allied Transport of Windsor is
spending a few days vacatien with
his parents, Mr and Mrs F. Ducharme
On Tuesday last. after the service
es were held in his parish church,
London, the remains of the late
Alfred Sreenan were taken to this
Parish for interment. The departed
was in his 62nd year and was a
native born in this parish a Sheet dis-
tense north of Drysdale. Some thirty
years ago he had disposed of his
farm and equipment and moving to
London where he continued to reside
until Saturday last when he met
death by car accident. This parish
joins with the familee in extending
their deepest sympathy.
Miss Cherie Geoffrey of Detroit,
after spending a few weeks' vacation
at her home in Beaver Town, return-
ed on Monday last to resume her dut-
ies.
Holiday visitors at the home of
Mr and Mrs Leo Bedard were: the
Misses Marion Bedard and Dona
Ryder of London; Mr. August Be-
dard of Windsor, who, was accomp-
anied by his sister M. Eugenie of
Stony Point, visiting also the family
of their mother, Mrs. Joseph Bedard.
It would be a continual list of
names of visitors to report, so we
will sap that nearly every home had
some members of their family to
visit them i -ver the Labor Day holi-
day. To some it brought happiness,
meet in a family circle to others it
brought grief, considering the thou-
sands of cars with their -occupants
who travelled the highways and by-
ways, even though the number of
fatalities were many; one may won-
der that many more would not have
met with the same fate.
Had Turkey Dinner
The Mernorvidge seniors of De-
troit gave some of the neighlars and
friends of this immediate vicinity a
turkey dinner on Sunday last at their
summer home at Ducharme's beach.
All enjoyed themselves to tnerrhearts
content. After nearby four months of

Each year George A. Hamid of
New York sends the pick of over 2,-
000 vaudeville acts to London and he
never fails to watch at least one of
the 'performances. The nine acts be -

Follies of 1951, featuring the Four
-Seasons Revue, a glittering present-
ation of lovely talented dancers in
elaborate and colorful costumes. So-
loiets are the lovely Misses Jeanne
Pascal and Rita Perry. Two clever
animal acts will add variety to the
program. Sylvia's winsome French
versifies combine their acting talents
with email terriers and cockers. Her
16 dogs are all seasoned performers.
A. trained pony completes the act.
Trah Watson presents a quartet of
'educated chimpanzees, one of whom
rides. stops and starts his own motor-
-cycle.
Francisco and Delores present an

lightful trip.
The United Church S. S. convenes
at the usual hour 10 eau. Sept. 9th
on and other services at 'the regular
hour. Rev. A. 'Sinclair, of Windsor,
former pastor for 15 years will be
guest speaker at the re -opening ser-
vices Sunday Sept. Oth at 111 a.m.
and Rev. Brook, 'former minister tor
12 years at the service Sept, 16th.
The newly gowned choir will provide
special music at both these -services.
At the Grand American. Trap Shoot
held at Vandalia, Ohio, John Ander-
son of Hensll, hit 94 out of 100 han-
dicap targets which included a 50
straight, and received a cheque for
$116. There were 1;695 shooters of
all North America present.
Wm. Hyde, 87, captured third
prize in the Old Time Fiddlers Com-
petition featured music day held at
the Canadian Nationall Ex, Toronto.
Placed in the 75 and over class; Nel-
son Howe, Cromartse, place a third in
the 30 and under 50 class. Teeth will
receive medals,
All roads lead to Hensall Commun-
ity Arena Friday night, Sept. 7th,
for the Fall Frolic sponsored by the
Hensall Legion. Bingo, Games of
Chance, wheels ,of fortune and a
giant draw for 10 valuable prizes will
take place. Door prize $25 cash.Free
admission tickets to school children.
Members of the W. I. are reminded
of the pot -luck supper to be held in
the Legion Hall, Wed. eve, Sept 12,
at &all. Mrs. W. R. Dougall and Mrs
J. Smillie are :hostesses. Mrs. R. H.
Middleton and Mrs. Inez MeRwan
are in charge of the entertainment.
Members are requested to bring ex-
hibits for elimination to prepare for
Exeter Fair.
Organist. -Has Left
Mr. John L. Nicol ACCO. organist
and choirmaster of Carmel church,
who left Thursday for Timmins to
take over the positio of music super-
visor of five schools and organist in
the First United Church there, was
honored at a presentation in Carmel
Church when members of the choir
met to present, him with a gift in re-
cognition of his services. Mrs. A.
Kerslake made the .presentation. Mr
Nicol also receoved individual gifts.
Luncheon was served. Mr. Ian Mun-
ro of Centralia will take over.
