The Maple Leaf Farm Forum held•
their picnic on the lovely farm home
of Mr and Mrs Theo. Steinbach on
Tuesday. A most delicious supper
was enjoyed bly the Large attendance
present. The sports and everything
that goes 'with a good picnic was pre-
^nt. el the weather was at its best
for tate sports and out door refresh-
meu ts.
FIFTY YEARS AGO

Mr. and Mrs. Michael Zeller, Zur-
ich, last week passed the 50th anniv=
ezisary of their marriage, nearly the
whole of which time they have lived
in Hay Township. They were among
the first settlers in the district and
have seen the country changed f ram
swamp land to 'what it is today.
CAPTURES $150 PRIZE
At the recent bingo staged by
the Clinton Lions Club and. held in
that town, a number of Zurich peo-
ple were successful in winning hand-
some prizes, among them we notice.
Clarence Overholt. Zurich was the
winner of the $150 cash special cash'
prize, with a $25 jackpot ,going to
Mrs. L. Overholt, Goderich. Regular
$10 prizes were 'won bee Mrs. Pearl
Stephan, Dashwood; Mrs. Corriveau, !
Zurich; A. Hodhe, Zurich; A. Me -1
Garth, Zurich; May Denornme, Zur-
ich; Norman Overholt, Zurich and
Mrs. Alex Masse, Zurich.
BROTHER DIES
Frank J. Monaghan, 58, well known
Wabash conductor, died at St. Tho-
mas, from a heart attack on Satur-
day, had been with the railway for
38 iyears. He had lived there all his
lifetime and was a member of Holy
Angels' Church, the Holy Name So-
ciety, St, Thomas Council Knights of
Columbus, and Unity Lodge No. 47,
Brotherhood of Railway Trainmen.
Surviving are t'^ree brothers, John
and Leo Monaghan, St. Thomas and
the Rev. Father M. D. Monaghan, of
and t e sisters, Mrs. „tanley
Cahn' • Misr, Genevieve Monaghan I
both of St. Thomas. The body rested
at the Williams funeral home, • where
reouiem heli mass was sung on Tu-
esday at 10 a.m. at Holy Angel's
Churoh and burial made in Holy An-
gel's Cemetery.

zabeth Schnell late of Zurich; be-

Albert DeCocker; ilrs. Harry Olm-
stead; dear grandmother of 6 grand-
children; dear sister of M'rs. Naro
Schnell Hoagland; brother of Ed-
ward Schnell of Bayfield, George
Schnell of Trenton, New Jersey;
Elton Schnell Schnell of Detroit.
Services were held from the Clyde
Funeral Home, Detroit, Monday,
July 9th' at 2.00 pan. with interment
Cadillac Memorial Gardens East.
The officiating Clergyman was Rev.
E. N,,Schulte.
