CALL MINISTER
Varna Goshen United Church
charge has extended a call to the
Rev. T. J. Pitts, at present in the
Newfoundland Conference, to be the
minister of the charge, effective on
July 1st. Mr. Pitts has expressed his
willingness to accept subject to the
approval of the conferences. He will
succeed the Rev. Reba Hern. Dur-
ing Miss Hern's pastorate a new
church was built at Goshen and ex-
tensive repairs made to Varna church
including a new basement.
Most Wonderful Growth
The recent rain on Saturday has
again greatly stimulated growth in
these parts. Farmers tell us In all
their time they have not seen any
better grass t'- 'n this year, and with
the shortage of reran power, it will be
an awful effort in many cases to get
+lte 1 e^ •• haws cion which will soon
4be along, harvested and savely un-
ider roof. •'•titch always means qo
much in feeding the stock over the
lona period when stock is in the
stables. Summer crops, corn and
beans also look well. With some
more rain today, Wednesday. and the
cool ater'ing weather this June, we
t=in heading for a :bumper cron. The
proeoect: are 000i for serawherriea.
