Mr. and Mrs. Earl Smith of Detroit were Monday night visitors at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Ward Fritz. Thep were on their way to their Island Summer 'Horne, in the Parry Sound District. Progress is being made in the er- ection of the concrete culvert at the easterly end of town which is being put in on the Highway to Hensall. The easterly one in the big swamp is now completed as far as the con- crete ins concerned. Only the filling in to the approaches is required. The recent rains has not helped 'the pro- gress any, as there is a lot of water to content with. The short 'detours are veny good. CALL MINISTER Varna Goshen United Church charge has extended a call to the Rev. T. J. Pitts, at present in the Newfoundland Conference, to be the minister of the charge, effective on July 1st. Mr. Pitts has expressed his willingness to accept subject to the approval of the conferences. He will succeed the Rev. Reba Hern. Dur- ing Miss Hern's pastorate a new church was built at Goshen and ex- tensive repairs made to Varna church including a new basement.
