Zurich Loses to Clinton In a League fixture on Tuesday . evening Zurich ball club lost their first game for the season, ibex going up to Clinton, the leas was 9-0, 'and the Clinton pitcher was just too good. Dashwood and Lucan fought it out to a 14 -tie. Dashwood will be at Zur- ich on Friday evening, be sure and come out to see this one. Miss Reba Hern, pastor of the Varna circuit of the united Church of Canada, has tendered herd resignation and has left for London where she is engaged in similar work Miss Hern, who has served the Varna r circuit for the past ten years, was a 'very forceful speaker, very positive and .sincere in expounding the sacred word. She really spoke with deep conviction, rebuked sin, and had high ideals of manhood.. Her services as guest speaker were always in great demand. She will be greatly :hissed in the community. Hollanders Arrive Among the families immigrating from Holland recently are: Ralph Sunday, wife' and two children of Holland, who are placed with Mr. Valle Becker, Dashwood. A brother Bert Sunday is working for Stanley Bauder, blind line. SERVICE OBITUARY Mrs. Cyrus Schoch Passes Mrs. Cyrus Schoch, 77, died sud- denly early Saturday morning, June 2nd, at her home in Sebrin.gville. The former Barbara Ann Lindenfield, she was born on Feb. 10, 1874, in Hay Township, a daughter of the late Mi and Mrs. Jacob Lindenfield. Was a member of Sebringville Evangelical U. B. Church, the Ladies' Aid and W M.S. They farmed on the I4th con. Hay before moving to Kitchener some years ago, then came back to Zurich for a few years before mov- ing to Sebringville. Surviving are her husband, to whom she was marri- ed in 1898; five sons, Garnet, Coch- rane; Percy, Wallace and Leonard, all of Kitdhener; Clifford, Stratford; three daughters, Mrs. Frank (Bernice Pauli, Soseville; Mrs. Walter (Idella Roedding, Bridgeport; Mrs. Kenneth (Lucille) Lautenschiager, Kitchenei; DR, T. Bur- ial. was in Bridgeport Memorial Cem- etery. Mrs. John K. Ehlers A rather sudden and unexpected passing of Mrs. Lydia. Schroeder, be- loved wife of the late John I . Ehlers took place a: Grand Bend at the home of Mr and Mrs Russell 'Warner, where the deceased had been staying re- cently, took place on Thursday, May 31.sta'Deceased was in her 75bh year. Mr. and Mrs Ehlers after their marriage, fumed for :eine time in the Dashwood area, later moving to Dashwood for some years, then pur- chased the property in Zurich which the estate still has, They had one child, Dorothy, an invalid,w ho pass- ed away. a .few years ago. Mr. Ehl- ers predeceased about six years. Surviving are ,two sisters, i' Mrs. Zimmerman (Elizabeth) of Zurich; Mrs. Andrew Musser (Mary, of Dash- wood. The body rested at the West- lake Funeral Home, Zurich until Sun- day, June 3rd, where a public funer- al service was held at 2.30 pan. with internment in the Evangelical U. B. Bronson line cemetery. The pastor, Rev. H. E. Roppel, officiated. Former Native Dies Frederick J. Howald, former resi- dent of several Western Ontario cen- tres, died at his home, London. He was born in Hensall, but spent many years of his younger life in the Zur- ich district. Before going to London in 1933 lived at St. Marys, 'Windsor. 'and Chatham. In London, he was as- sociated with the Alex Lamont .real estate until his death. Was also a prominent mason. Surviving are his wife, former Lena Bender; one dau- ghter, :Mrs. Kathleen Yorston of Lon- don; two brothers, Edward Howald of Exeter, and the Rev. F. L. How - aid, IVIorrisburg, and two grandsons.
