WHEN MOTHERS FACE JUDGE-
MENT
Do past indiscretions make a wo-
man an unfit mother? What is the
just real standard for measuring a
mother's fitness? Be sure to read
"When !Mothers Face Judgment", a
dramatic article about child custody
cases, in this Sunday's (March 4)
issue of The American Weekly, !am-
ens real-life magazine, Exclusively
with The Detroit .Sunday Times.
The Voice of Temperance
The menace of drunk driving in-
creases each year — while motor car
registrations increases by 14 per cent
in 1956,, convictions for drunk driv-
in•g went up hey 40 per cent. The
stricter law enforcement and the hea-
vier penalties failed to match the
menace of drunk driving. It should
be obvious that the policy of more
and More outlets, with more and
more liquor -consumed is contributing
to the drunk drivinimenace. As the
Toronto Star puts it "The Ontario
Government's free and easy attitude
on liquor sales has been contributing
to the accident toll due to alcohol."
Surely no Huron County citized, tn
his right senses, would propose to
exchange the restrictive measures of
the Canada Temperance Act for the
free and easy sale policy ot,the On-
tario Liquor Control Act with its
increasing drunk driving hazards.—

Had Splendid Program
The 3 -Act Comedy "Coveralls"
which was presented by the Elimville
Womens' Institute, and sponsored by
the Catholic Womens' League held
in St. Peter's Parish Hall, St. Joseph
on Friday evening, was a great suc-
cess. The play being one of the :finest
and best held in these parts for some
time. A real display of home life.
The parts being well taken as the
charaeters. 'were super. Much fun
and laughter was enjoyed by all. s
Cooler Weather Moves In
The two weeks' of unseasonable
mild weather was brought to a close,
on Tuesday morning, and a stead
freezing •up has again come our way.
on Sunday was the warmest Feb.
25th in the history of Toronto, and
over most of the Province likewise.
The much snow and ice around the
village has practically disappeared.
We do not know if the warm period
has helped to spread the flu to some
extent, but there is a lot of it around
the eountny. While we are at pres-
ent enjoying nice winter weather, in
the western Provinces they are hit
with blizzards and rain storms.
Thank You!
We are indeed very gratful for
the following interesting letter:
Massey, Ontario, Fehr, 22,'51
Dear Publisher: Another year has
passed, another subscription due and
enclosure for the same.
I read in the "Herald" that wou
complain about the cold weather,
you should be up here and you really
would get a taste of genuine cold
temperature. The other night on my'
way home from School Board meet,
ing 1 nearly froze and no wonder,
thermometer was down to 47 below
zero. This has been the coldest since
I am up in this northern district.
Snow? Lots of it, more than we
ever had before. If the coming gum
mer will be as hot as the winter is
cold, we will have a scorcher.
With •best wishes and Greetinge!
--Rev. H. Rernbe.
