Windsor; Mr. and airs. Keith Rose of
London, were holiday visitors at the
home of Mrs, Harry Rase,
Mr, Maurice O'Dwyer of London
visited with friends in Zurich during
the holiday season.
Mr, Joseph Ducharme of Maynont,
Sask,, is spending a few weeks with
relatives in these parts.
'.Mr. Norby Mittleholtz of Toronto
spent the holiday season at the home
of his parents, Mr and Mrs. Theo.

Mr, and ,Mrs. Gus Roche and son,
Wayne enjoyed a pleasant week's hol-
idays visiting relatives and friends in
Chatham, Windsor, and Detroit, ov-
er the New Year season.
Mr. and Mrs. Ward Fritz and dau-
ghter Miss Mary Lou spent part of
the holida;vs season with relatives and
friends in Detroit.
Miss Margaret Rader and Mr. Ed.,
Harman, of Woodstock spent the New
Year Holidays at the home of the
former's parents, Mr and Mrs. Ted.

Mr. Reg. Blank who, is on the tea-
ching staff near Dresden, .spent the
week -end with his wife and baby
son Daniel Herbert at the horde of
their parents, iVlr and Mrs. Herbert

Rev.. and Mrs, H. E. Roppel were
last week huriidly called to Belle-
ville, where IMrs. Roppel's sister had
become quite ill. At time or going
to press we have not heard of their
return to Zurich.

sons Paul and Jack were Christmas
visitors at the hone of their sisters'

latter along with their daughter Bar-
bara, accompanied then home to
enjoy the New Year holidays along
with Mr and Mrs Wilfred Klopp and
son David of London, at the home
of the Yungblut family
Farm Forum
The Unique Farm Forum was held
at S. S. No. 8, Hay. Mr. and Mrs.
A, Oestreieher were host and hostess
Mr. C. Pepper was the convenor of
the evening. Next week the meeting
will be held at S.S.:No. 122, Hay on
Tuesday evening. Please note the
change from Monday to Tuesday ev-
ening. 'Mrs. IM..Krueger and Nola
will be the hostesses.. The topic' for
discussion is "Marketing Quality
Products." Mr. T. Meyers will be the
convenor of the evening.

Hamburg, on the Nith River, was a-
mong the hardest hit. There, flood
waters reached their third highest
peak in 40 years. Twenty-five homes
were flooded and seven streets in-
undated including Shade street, one
of the main arteries, which was clo-
sed to traffic for some time.
Women's Institute
BANQUET MEETING
The members of the Zurich Wom-
ens' Institute entertained. their husb-
ands and several invited non-m.emb-
eas who so generously assisted at
several banquets, to a most lovely
banquet meeting held Monday even-
ing, at the Dominion Hotel, Zurich. -
All enjoyed%a most delicious tur-
key dinner and edded trimmings. Af-
ter dinner toast 'Co the King was giv-
en. Mrs. Roche; president, gave
words of welcome and called upon
Mr. Chester Smith. who very ably
gave a few words'eof encouragement
and praise to the Womens Institute
and their work. Several others weee
called upon including Mr. Thus.

0Mrs.E, Hey. A short business' dis-
1 cussion followed. Minutes of the
previous meeting, and treasurer's re
port were read, passed and approved.
Several members were elected to
assist in duties outlined to them at

, 1 the coming "Short Course" to be held
in the 'Zurich ':l'own Hall. The course
1 to be held for 18 days. Exhibition•-
PDisplay to be held Jan. 214, 2,5 and

and called upon Mrs. N. Geiger who
gave a reading "Man's Depression.'
Mrs. Menno Oesch and Mrs. H. Rose
favoured all by singing two duets
"`Harbor Lights and Galloway Ray."
Mr. and Mrs. Ed.' Stelck gave two
piano and violin selections followed

Mrs. Irliemas Meyers very ably
gave, (costume and ail) hilarious im-
persinations of a Mr, Schtrauss, tell-
ing about his rnischievious son Jacob
and in turn Jocob decribing his fath-
er so called "Courage."
Two song duets were given by
Mrs. D. Meyers and Mrs. Harveey.
Clausius. "Leibestr•autn" an u "Wh-
ispering Hope." Ali enjoyed a snort
contest "Song Titles". A comical
;;roup song "The Thing" by several
of the ladies, Mrs. D. Meyers, Mrs.
M. Oesch, Mrs. 11. Rose, Mrs. H. CIa-
usius, Mrs. Ivan WiIlert, and Mrs.
t1orris Durand. A short sing -song
was enjoyed by one and all
Pianist and song -leader for the
evening, Mrs. Milton Oesch. ,Pro-
gramme closed with "0'Canada."
