HOCKEY NEWS
The official opening of the hockey
seasbn was on Friday, evening last,
when Granton. team was up and
played the locals. The visiting teani
seemed no match for the powerful
locals who had piled up a score of
7-0 .when the visitors had got m •a;
fluky goal, but this was soon aver -
come by the_locels when they added
another for good measure, making
the final count 8-1. However, a few
nights previous the Granton team
defeated the Hensall boys at Hen•-
sgll.,, While the Zurich team was not
up to full strength, they showed them
selves a much stronger team. The
ice became very heavy in the final
period and the boys •ha.d to push a-
long th.e puck over the sticky ice. Too
bad one of the visiting boys was in-
jured in the final period by losing
his balance and flying into the boards
but no serious injury resulted, al-
though he had to be carried of the
ice. There was a big crowd present.
On Monday night the locals went to
Granton for the return game, and
won by the score of 6-2. So far Zur•
ich and Dashwood teams have not
been defeated, azul this will be dee-. !`
ided on this Wednesday night, when
Dashwood will visit Zurich. 'Tern
will be a big crowd present, although
the ice may not be juet too good, as
a mild spell is on to -day, Wednesday.
Following are the games for the
coming week:
Jan. 12 Exeter vs Hensall.
Lucan vs Granton
Jan. 15 ---Zurich vs Dashwood
(,canton vs. Exeter.
Jan. 1. -'.'-.lunch vs Hensall.
