ley. Fair Secretary Mrs. A. M.
Basett said the number of entries was
high this year, !particularly in the :cat-
tle and :flower !sections. Throughout
the afternoon, the Ggderioh Girl's
Trumpet Band, who led the parade
to the fair igrounds, entertained with
a number of precision drills. In all,
it was ,Bayfield's big event.

The first fall meeting of the Guide
and Brownies will be held on Thurs-
day October 4th, in the Town Hall,
Zurich. All girls interested are ask-

on Sept. 6, at Hile Hospital, Union-
ville, Mich., where he had been a
patient for four years. The Rev. J.G.
Crosby, pastor of Trinity -Evangelical
U.B. -Church, conducted services,and
burial was made in. the Evangelical
cemetery Mr . 'Brechtel • suffered a
broken hip in a fall, 1951 and has
been an invalid since. He was born
in 1864 in Bavaria and came to Can-
ada when he was 16. He was united
in marriage with Miss Katherine
Heide at Zurich, Ontario'. She was
also born in Germany. Following their
bthey moved to a farm. near Ow-
endale where they farmed for 28
years, retiring they moved to Sebe-
waing. Mns. Brechtel died in 1838.
They had nine childreny, with seven
living, 18 grandchildren and 34 gre-
at grandchildren. •• •
