STUDENT WINS $2,000 AWARD
A 22-year-od Univerity of West-
ern Ontario student from Zurich has
been awarded a $2,000 'fellcwlip for
study at Duke Universiy, it was an-
nounced recently. John iaberer,
son of Mr and 'Mrs. J. W: 'Haberer,
Zurich, will use the fellowship at
Duke for post graduate studies in
econonvics, the coure he expects to
graduate in this spring.
At Western; he has +beenpresdent
of his year, 'pesident o.f the Polycon
:Club, treasurer of the Arts and
Science Council, and president of
the Lutheran Students' (Council. He
also set an intercollegiate record for
the 220 -yard dash 'iln track connpetit-
on last fall. Mr. Haiberer is �a grad-
uate of S:uth Huron District (High
School, Exeter.Visited Remains
Frends of 'here visited the re-
mains at Clinton :oif the late Mr.
Ed. Wendorf, wlho passed awayvery
suddenly at the Clinton Public Hos-
pital. Mrs. Wendorf was widely
known as a musician and teacher of
music.After her marriage to Mr.
Wendorf in 1920 they came from
the Chesley district to Clinton and
Mrs. •Wendorf son ,became organstof the Ontario iStreet United Church,
a position she held to the last. Be-
sides her :church work she (lidteach-
ing of music, etc., she held posit-
ions as instructor ina :goodly num-
ber .of schools in the area, as wellas at the :airport. While attending
the Collegiate at Clinton, two Zur-
ich girls were in resirdence at the
Wendorf home, namely Miss Gladys
Gingerich, now Mrs. Stnley 'Sander,
and Miss •Mae iSmith, now Mrs. P. J.
Cunningham. To know Mrs. Wen-
dorf, was to love her, a very .pieas-
ing personality, and was very well.informed do all walks of life. Sur-
viving :besides her :husband ;is one
daughter ,married and lives in Win-nipeg.
