1B. of M. TO INSTALL NEW
LEDGED KEEPING MACHINE
Customers of the Bank of Mon-
treal's branch will soon be receiving
speedier and more convenient serv-
ice, according to John Bannister, B
of M manager here. This will he
made possilble by the installation of
a new ledger -keeping system, which
will revolve around what is known
as a coanibinatilon posting machine.
This complex mechanism will auto-
mati:ally record all withdrawls, de-
posits, :balances, dates and other per-
tinent data.
Current -account customers will
not require passbooks, thereby elim-
inating delays while passbooks are
made up. Instead, •customers will
regularly receilve complete statements
with debits, credits and balances
concisely set :out for quick reference,
These statements will always be in-
stantly available. The machine will
also be used for the savings depart-
ment, and all withdrawls. and depos-
its will be mechanically entered iin
the bank's records. Savings pass-
books, however, rvi'll be hand writt-
en.
