What Is the Lutheran Evangelism Mission?
It is the special emphasis of the United Lutheran Church
in the two years between Oct. 30, 1955 and Oct. 311, 1957,
reaching into the life of every congregation and calling to new
activities of witnessing and 'discipleship.
The Lutheran Evangebism iIission has /both an "outreach"
and an "inreach." The "outreach" its .considered that those
outside the Church might come to Jesus Christ as 'their Savior
and live in the feilewahip of His followers. The "inreach" is
concerned that those who are members of the Church might
live in the Spirit and ':.ring forth the fruits of the Spirit.
T:. ;, and these ends the pattern of a Lutheran Mission
Week is built around the preaching of God's Word in mission
services and ti.e instruction of congregational leaders in evan-
gelism. A guest pastor, called a missioner, comes for a week
at the congregation's invitation and brings' all the messages
and instructs the lay leaders.
Many a congregation has been retbor., in spirit through
such a mission. It has discovered again its mission.

Once more Yuletide holidays are
over, and we of us in this ,commun-

Every home in thele parish had their

Others from abroad, and in all we
have no accidents to report, that
could have been determined' to their
enjoyment. We have now embar%ea

will go only time 'will tell. We are

Huron Temperance Notes
Unethical and. Unjust
By their nature alcoholic (beverages
cannot be treated as- ordinary com-
modities. Personal, domestic and so-
cial problems have always been pre-
valent where ind.utgence in !liquor has
been practiced. Hence have conte
"'control systems," designed to pro-
tect the unwary.
It is illogical therefore to • permit
advertising of liquor !by vested inter-
ests. Such advertising offers uzxlimiit-,
ed appeal, reaching to minors with
whom drinking is not only recogniz-
ed universally as undesirable, (but is
also contrary to law.
Constant pressure on this' group as
exercised under present advertising
conditions is unethical and unjust.—

GRAND BEND
To Stop Rowdyism
Goderich — Grand Bend Council
started in the new year with plans
to stop "rowdyism" in the village
during the summer months.
Councillor Norman Turnbull
newcomer this year, touched off a
long debate at the start of the meet-
ing by claiming police expenses were
too ihiglh for the size of the village.
When questioned by Reeve Dalton.
and other :coiunciilors as to how he
would improve policing, Councillor
Turnbull thought the village might
profit by hiring a permanent force.
"Two or three men to walk the
streets all 'the tine would •certaifnly
,help", Councillor Turnbull chinned.
The ViRlagein the past employed
one provincial corporal for eight
months and five other provincial
police •co.nstables in the summer
The cost of .politcing last year was
slightly over $6,000,
Reeve Dalton explained a survey
has -proved tihat Grand Bend is un-
derstaffed in summer months when
12,000 to 15,000 persons move fn.
