Attend Wedding
A pretty wedding took place at the
St,Jacobs Mennonite church on Sat-
urday Dec. 24th when Laura Martin
of Waterloo and Milo Shantz of New
Hamburg were united in marriage at
a candlelight service. The wedding
dinner was served to lover 100 guests
at Augusta 'Thelma, ,Conestoga. After
a reception at the 'home of the bride's
parents, Mr and Mrs. Ananias Mar-
tin.'" Guests attending from the Zur-
ich vicinity were: Edwin Steekle,
Ruby and Reba Martin, Mr and
Mrs. Earl Gngerich and Erlene. The
bride and groom are off to Florida

.FARM FORUM
The 'Unique Farm Forum met at
theilthine ofeMr and Mrs . Delbert
Geiger on Jan. 2nd with 25 memb-
ers present to discuss the topic "New
Canadians" with Mr Bert Klopp /ead-
ing the discussion. Question No. 1
What affects has agriculturel immig-
ration had (a) on our countryOur
Forum thought that it has boosted,
the price .of our farms. And has cre-
ated more efficiency among vol. far-
mers. Our Forum has done very
little to welcome New Canadians,but
there has been little 'opportunity in
our community It is our duty to be
neighbourly and help them if the
need arises. The next meeting will
be held at the home of Mr and Mrs
Clarence &bade. The topic Who
benefits. from price supports, to be
taken by Mrs. Clare Geiger. Miss
Mary Geiger 'co'ndu'cted recreation
and Mrs Geiger served a delicious
lunch. The meeting closed with the
singing of The Queen.
OBITUARY
Late lda Well
Miss Ida Well, 77, daughter of the
late Hermon and Elizabeth Well, one
time citizens of Zurich, Ont., died in
a Hospital near Detroit on December
28, 195;5 after a long illness. She
was born and grew up in Zurich. The
family moved to Detroit some thirty
or more years ago where Ida followed
the dressmaking business for many
years. She joined the Evangelical
church here at eleven years of age and
later became an active member of the
same church in Detroit where she
remained faithful to the end. Her
parents, one brother and two sisters
predeceased 'her in death. Surviving
are: one !brother, Hamor, Montreal,
Que., one sister, Mrs. Ed. Wagner,
Kopeck, Mich. Her remains were
brought back to Zurich for interment
in the Evangelical U.S. cernetery.The
funeral service was conducted at the
Westlake Funeral Home on Saturday
by the Rev. H. E. Reppel, pastor.
DIED AT HENSALL
Death ;claimed one of Hensall's
well known citizens in the person of
Miss Hattie Dent Sutherland, who
pas,ed away suddenly in Clinton Pub.
lie Hospital Thursday evening, Dec,
29th ;where he had been a patient
since March, in her 87th year. Dau-
ghter of the late !Mr and Mrs James
Sutherland, she was born in Anburn,
and had been a resident of this vill-
age for over 70 years. A member of
the United Church, life long member
of the W.M.S., ;Womens' Institute,
and wcw. Prblit funeral services
were held from the Bonthron funeral
home Saturlay 31.st. Rev. C. D. Dan -
ley 'conducted the funeral and paid
fitting tribute of her life. Mrs George
Hess rendered an appropriate 'solo
"How !beautiful Heaven Must Be."
Miss Greta Lammie, accompanist. In-
terment was in Hawaii, Union Cera-
etery.
