St. Joseph & Blue Water Area
On Friday evening last on the
Blue Water south, previous:,; '.mown
as Beaver Town, a very enjoyable
event took place at the home of Mr.
and Mrs Alphonse Masse when rel-
atives and friends from this Highway
and other concessions gathered in a
body to give a farewell surprise party
to the Masse Family, who have of
late decided to make their {home in
London, where Mr. Masse has a per-
manent job. In the near Suture they
will leave their present home they
still own. The evening was spent as
all other get-to-gether gatherings.
each one had a little story to tell;
each one was boasting of their youth-
ful -days, what they had accomplished
usual it was a game of :chanie to see
;the order on such occasions and as
usual if wa a game of chance to see
I who could spatter the most. There
were also amusements which all took
part in, such as singing, dancing, and
of course music was in the vague to
greet therm all. The host and hostess
were much impressed by it all' and
thanked them all for their fore -tho-
ught. Refreshments were served, and
after all had partook to then' heart's
desire, they formed a ring to wish
the Masse Family all of 'the best in
their new home.
Winter is Here -
Snow has been' piling .high o,n both
sides of the 'Blue . Water Highway,
snow plows are making their rounds
to keep the Highway clear, and on
Mo nday last the snow 'blower came
to the assistance, :blowing a good
coat of snow in the .fields. It is the
general opinion that we will have a
White Christmas, giving it the ap-
pearance of the Yuletide season. If
,nothing brews Alp for the, next ten
days, old Nick will be able to hook
his reindeer on a sledge to deliver
his {parcels. However, we should not
put too much confidence in to -day's
appearance, for over night sometiri'M

results. As a matter of routine he
continued to send the bill. When
the fifth one had gone the man came
and paid. The merchant smiled, well
pleased that his matter of principle
had brought results, until he remem-
bered the five three -cent stamps he
had placed en the "dunners."-Ex.
A Worthy Act

Winter is Here
There is no denying winter has
set in on Monday and will be with
us for the next four months or so.
There is a nice blanket of snow, and
when they talk about three and four
above zero, well we can feel assured
that winter is here. A heavy wind-
storm lashed these parts early in the
week and real cold weather had set
in' but Iby 'Wednesday things are mod-
erating again.
