Harvest Early
Farmers are about through with
the regular sunnier harve t which is
considered about the o`a^iies. m 111; -
tory, or in recollection of the present
generation. We are still in July
and about ready for fail weather as
:far as harvest is conee ee<l. 'the
extra -lie hot and dry weather alas
really pushed things along. This
season is considered the dryest in
history, with about eight inches of
rainfall less than the average, and
all growing things are zhow ng the
effects of it. It is considered the
drought is costing farmers around 82
million dollars in Ontario alone. To
the north :of us we are toll that fa.r-
urers have to take their stock out of
the pasture fields as there is nothing
to eat and dispose of them in what-
ever way they can. !hare in these
parts it is not quite so bad as yet,
but getting serious enough. Then
with„this extreme heat, it makes mat-
ters all the worse. Sote a rains have
gone to the south of es, but here,
well, we have just mie ed the bus.
