He visited Japan and also stopped over at Formosa for several days. Father Dietrich's mis- sionary work for the first several months will be mainly a study of the language and customes of the peo- ple of the Philippines. Our Next Holiday Monday next, August 1st will be our next holiday, as it has been pro- claimed as civic holiday and will be observed as thus. A few interesting things to mark the holiday will be a balt.game on the local diamond in the afternoon which will be interest- ing, an adv. elsewhere in this issue will explain it better, and then there will be the annual Thiel Reunion in the „community Centre. It seems .hardly fair for those who do so much to have these lovely birds brought, up to be molested by the canine tribe that in many eases just kill for the fun of it. People own- ing dogs should keep :t close watch on their whereabouts and train them to stay on, their premises as much as possible.
