Had School Meeting
An interesting meeting was held
of rateq-a.yers, and other officials at
Scho-ol Section No. 11:, Bay Town-
ship recently, with the object in view
of deciding on whether tobuild a
new school house, or to continue on
as at Present, 'that is to• transport the
15 odd pupils to other schools. This
latter system seems to meet with the
majority for the present with such
a .n'iiall nunrbe of .i;wril5,. for the
present they thought it riot advise -
able to purchase a piece of land and
erect a new schoolhouse, as had been
stated /before, the present house is
in a bad condition, and the school
yard, located .between two ravines,
is continually getting smaller. So
the old school house will tie amongst
the many has-beens, that we see so
man`, around the country. Times
keep making changes, and we think
before long the public schools will be
centralized, and children conveyed to
and fro by busses.
AUTO DRIVING TIPS
Here are a few heart-to-heart tits
for the car owners: A motorist tray
eling 50 ni. an hr, or 74 ft per sec.
end, .requires a distance of 1G,G.:feet
to halt his car—if he has perfect 4 -
wheel brakes on a good road surface
!ander favorable driving conditions.
These figures are illustrated in a free
booklet issued by the motor vehicle
branch of the Dept. of .Highways,
which is now available to all rnotorlste
at their motor clubs or local motor
license offices. The safety graph shows
that even a driver coasting along at
20 miles per hr. cannot .stop his car
to less than 40 feet. It is figured that
the. `tthinking distancc% of the num•
bee, of feet traveled by the motorist
before his brain transmits its `stop"
message to, the. feet and the brake alp.
