YOUR. -HEATING EQUIPMENT
was announced by W. T. "Doc"
Cruickshank, general manager of that
station, who said the application to
the Dept. of Transport and the Can-
adian Broadcasting Corporation asks
for permission to install and operate
a TV station on Channel 8. The pro-
posed TV station would serve Bruce,
Grey, Huron, West •Dufferin, North
Perth, North Wellington and a sec-
tion of Waterloo County. If Govern-
ment approval is granted it may not
come till after hearing from Ottawa,
in mid-April. It would take abodt six
months to install the equipment. Mr.
Cruickshank stated that the radio op-
eration of CKNX will remain as it
is and continue to grow along with
TV. The proposed Station would
cover an area serving almost 200,-
000 people and the transmitter to be
located west of Walkerton. A pro-
gram approximately of 60 hours a
week would be given dealing with •
news, sports, women's events, farm
events, music, religion,•public service:
and children's features. It would
cover an area much in need of this
service.
Reception from the Wingham TV ;
station in the Zurich district should
be consistently good with the use of
a suitable outside antenna, according
to engineering estimates. As in radio,
the station's policy of presenting
local personalities and events should
make the new TV outlet the 'home-
town' station for the Zurich district.

St. Joseph & Blue Water Area
Do you reinember six weeks ago
when all eyes were turned upward
in a south-easterly direction watching
to see if any clouds would obscure the
sun or at least would darken its bril-
iance, during- the hours that the
groundhog would make_ its exit from
his winter quarters? The object was
to determine as to ,what - the weather
would be like for the following forty
days. Whilst it is now at the end of
this six Week period, and fresh in our
mind it would .be well if you turned
back the pages of time to Feb. 2nd,
past, and give an account of the wea-
ther as you seen it; we fear you will
be at a loss to give an accurate dec-
ision; the old adage if the groundhog
sees his shadow on that day he re-
turns to his cave for another six
weeks, to avoid all of the winter's
blizzards and where he will again
stretch out in a deep torpor, for an-
other six weeks, awaiting for more
spring like weather and find the
grazing more appetizing. Well, here
it is: the past six weeks has been a
sort of weather, combinined with a
mixture of a little of everything, that
we could not call winter, nor could
we call is spring; so there you gave
it; and it will be up ta you whether
or not you will accept the prophecy
of the groundhog in the future years.
At any rate we feel if the groundhog
made a mistake this year, he should
not to be condemned too severely for
he is not the •only one.
