Fine steady winter weather is pre-
vailing in these parts the past week,
just enough snow to 'blanket the
earth nicely, and yet not too much
to get around well. The County
and Provincial plows have been going
over their routes but there is little
to push aside. Through town a coat
of salt has been strewn which •eats
up the snow and ice, making the
streets slushy, but most of us would
rather like the snow, as thisslush ad -
hears to one's shoes and is being
dragged in the homes and places of
business.
• Agricultural Highlights
G. W. Montgomery Jan. 22
Light snowfalls covering up the ice
from recent storms have made for
',better tworking and travelling cond-
itions aracnd farms and on country
roads. Sugar beet officials report a
loss exceeding $1110,000.00 to some
County Farmers because of the in-
bility to harvest around 125 acres of
sugar beets. Turnips continue to
move well at 50c per !bushel for . .0.
l's, 110, carloads., or 66,000 bushels
have been shipped from the Blyth
area. Because of root meggot 10,-
000 bushels of cull turnips have been
sold from Blyth to farmers foi live-
stock feeding purposes, Short Couidel
Meetings held during the week at
Belgrave and Exeter were well at-
tended.
