Why Shout, 'Mr.. Drunk?
Why shout, '1VIr. Drunk? You don't
need to. !We can hear you ,easrry.liut
i after all you cannot'help it, When
,drunk your ears are dulled anti you
cannot bear yourself or the voices of
others clearly, Naturally you shout
I or yell, just as deaf folks are inclined
'to do. Some day you may walk right
into the middle of the street in the
thick traffic, unheeding, because even
the screech of brakes will sound tar
away. (Many thousands of drunks
have done just that. Your walk too -is
not natural. It is a stagger, timless
and uncertain. Your legs are out of
control -but that stagger is first
in your brain, where alcotholhas put
the serscoryernotor system out of or-
der. You ;won't shout or stagged if
you leave liquor allosne.-A,dhvt.
