The Voice of Temperance
Parental example has a greater im-
pact on the minds of young people
than advice from any source. This
is the ;conclusiontdraavrt by Dr Robeat
Strauss', professor of public health in
Syracuse University,e N.Y., after a
study of the &gracing halbits of more
than 16,000 U.S college students Ex-
ample IS more fpowerful than advice,
and !parental example is especially so.
"Son, — daughter — don't touch li-
quor until you are Older. I am a mod-
erate drinker. Liquor does me no
harm. It might get you. Good ad-
vice? Excellent. IBt granted that
your advice is more potent than your
example, don't forget to ask the ex-
perts dor the pre-test you can give
your boy or girl that will mark them
sis f,utaire ,MODERATE drinkers.
There may be same such teat. -As yet
it has been given no pruiblieit. The
sad truth is that many a 'moderate'
drinking parent bias ,seon his son ruin
his life with liquor attar he had be-
gun to drink 'anoderaktly' just as his
dad did. A recent report- by Yale
Centre of AlholAt4dents gives ,stat,

percent of Young Men Whose parents

cent of your women whose pm -exits
