TEACHERS HAD RALLY
The various school teachers or this
district attended the big .anneal "tea-
cher -training institute", held in the
Beal Technical School, London on
Friday of last week. Four Western
Ontario. counties. Huron, Middlesex,
Oxford and Vest Lannlbton had the
day off, approved :by the Ontario De-
partment of Education, in order to
exchange ideas and examine latest
text books straight from the publish-
ers' press. The two main speakers
were John Fislr.r, CIF(' commentator,
or known as 'Mr, Canada who has
just returned from Germany and Miss
A.11re Heena, Chicago publishing Co.

Agricultural Office News
Due to unfavourable weather -cond-
itiona attendance was down consid-
erably at the five Fall Fairs held in
the County this week. 'Silo filling is
being hampered by the wet weather,
White bean growers face 'a serious
Crop loss unless the weather clears up
immnediately. Fruit growers are 'har-
vesting an excellent +crop .of McIn'
tosh apples which are selling for
$2.75 to $3.00 per buslhel.

According to A. H. Erskine, God-
erich, Huron. County ,clerk, Friday,
October 29th has :been set ,as the date
for the formal.opening of the addit.

Clinton. W. A. Goodfellow, Ont.
Minister of Health and Welfare, is
expected to officiate, +Cons,truc'tionn
commenced in. June 1953 and many
of the residents of the home :have
already ,mov'ed into the nle,,v :addition
to permit renovation of the ,old str-
ucture. Of the four apartments for
married couples a new feature of the
home, one is already occupied and
officials are reserving a rocen for
two residents who are planning to be
married after the addition is open-
ed. The Huron County roads .depart-
ment is engaged in constructing roads
at the Home and the Zurich land-
scaper has been cont rcted'Lo look
