The Voice of Temperance
This is the story of Alcoholism in
France, amongst .children, as found
in Time., July 12, 1954 Seven-year-
old Pierre was brought by his pros-
perous paren'tss toChild 'Psychiatrist
Dr Suzanne Serin A bright healthy.
boy he often had strange visions.
"Wings not hands, white things which
dance on the bureau • It was awful."
Despite 26 years of practice, Dr Sar-
in was scarcely able to believe her
own diagnosis, acute alcholism. Alar-
med, Dr. Serin alerted Paris' clinic,'
and soon uncovered three more cases,
Lucien, 5; Yvonne, 3; and Maurice 12
Certain that there •must be a host of
others such as there, Dr. Serin per-
suaded the Ministry of Health to con-
duct an investigation. The results
were shocking. • In Paris Dr. Serin
reported findings to the Academy of
Medicine. D'ienriayed, its staid mem-
bers promptly launched a big a.nti-
alcholisin campaign in Trench
schools—a difficult and delicate job,
for any French peasant will confld-
entby! insist, 'a little wine never hurt
anybody,' It is rather ignificant that
the American Medical Association
DEALER IN LIGHTNING has decreed a ban on all liquor adv -
AND ALL KINDS OF FIRE e ticmente in ih<'hr periodicals. Ther
INSURANCE know that 'Wine IS a mocker.' --Adv

God's Wonderful Gift to Man
Behold the Lamb of God which taketh Away the
Sin of the World — John 1: 29 (p).
This is My (God's beloved Son, in whom I am
well pleased. Hear Ye Him -= Math. 16:5.
He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting Life;
and he that believeth not the Son shall not see
life; but the wrath of God abideth on him.
---John 3: 36.
Unto you therefore which believe. He is precious. --
