Some food 'for thought -facts, glean-
ed from here and there. The 'sales of
brewery products in Canada for 1952.
were nearly twice the figures for '42.
Ten carloads of ale, carrying 400,000
pints, have been shipped from a Lon-
don brewery within two. years, as a
gift to Canadians serving m Korea
and Europe. ,Carling'st Brewery Ltd.,
sent second gifts to Canadians serv-
ing in: armed forces outside ot Can-
ada. It was 6000 bottles of red ,cap
ale for use of ships tn Kor-
ean .waters. A representative of the
House of Seagram stated last Sept-
ember that his firm is spending $2 -
million, annually to secure Decorum
in the manufacture, distribution. and
consumption" of their product.. Liqu-
or dealers at all levels .continue
their well-planned efforts to hide the
end product of their business by
glamorous presentation of the first
impact of alcoholic bexera.ges on so-
cial situations. A significant action,
suggestive of their ,concern, about
avoiding controversy, was the sending
of a letter withdrawing scholarships
offered to the Toronto Board of Ed-
ucation. Final item—A.A. Groups
