QOQ John Luther John Luther, who had farmed all hisolife on the Illuewater Highway at Port Blake died at his home ori May 20th. 'His wife the former Martha Bloomfield died 23 years ago. Hospital, Seaforth on Monday, May 2,4th, was iborn on the Parr Line, and farmed in z•canley Township for many years. Following his marriage at Zurich in 1930, - and after living in Zurich for a few ye- ars they moved to Seaforth, he was married to Suzanne Smith of Zurich. Surviving besides his wife, are one daughter,- Mary, on the teaching staff of Essex school; and one sister, Mrs. S. Brien, Detroit. The body rested at the Cleary Funeral Home, Sea - forth. until Wednesday morning, when requiem high mass was sung in 'St. James Church, Seaforth, at 9:30 a. m., by Rev. Fr. E, T. Weber,. and interment made in %St. Boniface Ce- metery, Zurich. NEIGHBOURS HELP Sixteen farmers in the Dashwood district turned out Wednesday last to assist their neighbour Mr. Carl Oestreicher, just north. of Dashwood, they .plowed, manured and. packed 15 acres of land to make it ready for bean seeding. iVEr. Oestreicher receiv- ed a severe gash in his leg on April 28th when he was helping ar, a wood- cutting 'bee for the Dashwood Evan- gelical Church. He fell with a •chain'. saw and cut the muscles of his left leg, requiring hospitalization ror five days. He is now able to walk about with a crutch but cannot cro any heavy farm work. His father, .Samuel Oestreicher who works with him on the farm, was able to get same of the spring seeding -in but they were get- ting behind with their worrc. The gang came with tractors and spread- ers and prepar.,ed the 15, acres in short order. SEE PILGRIM STATUE . The Pilgrim Statue of Our Lady of Fatima, as announced, visited the St. Peter's Church, -St. Joseph and St Boniface Church,' Zurich, on Thursday and Friday of last week. .Large audiences attended both thus- apes, and many people were in deep devotions. The purpose of the visit is to recall the six appartions of the Blessed Virgin Mary in Portugal in 1917 to three children and to urge the people to penance and prayer for World peace. The Rev. Father Moore, of .the Scarboro Foreign ,Mission So- cielt, preached. Father Moore nas been travelling in many cuntries with the statue during the past six years. He appeals for unity of non-Catholis and Catholic in the battle against Communism. He said that he reels that even yet men in general may be saved from the heavy threat of an all-out war if they will turn to God and do penance. Father Moore was introduced in Zurich by Rev.
