Farm Forum
f ' Parr Line Forum held at the home
of Mr and Mrs Glenn Weido Feb. 15
There were 23 present. Subject of
e meeting was Farm Policy in relation
to production, +1. We think that a
world food bank would be the sol-
ution. This 'should be under the sup-
ervision of the F.A.O. as it will be
some time before this. will be in op-
eration; ; we think that farmers should
continue their normal production and
v set up marketing •boards somewhat
• St. Joseph & Blue Water Area
Mr and Mrs Louis Farwell of the
Goshen line; south, were Sunday vis-
itors with the latter'.s grandparents,
Mr and Mrs. F. Ducharme of the
Blue Water north.
:i'VIr and Mrs Pete Jeffrey of this
neighbourhood and Mr and Mrs Mor-
ley Fournie of London, motored to
Detroat the past week -end visiting
relatives and friends. The Fournies
returned to their home in London on
'Sunday evening.
Visitors at the home of Mr and
,Mrs. Leon Bedard on Sunday were:
from London, Mr and Mrs Peter
Milne and .son; Miss Marion Bedard
and friend; Mr and Mrs Lucien Cor-
riveau and Mr and Mrs. Percy Be-
dard. of the 'Drysdale district.
On. this Tuesday morning, -at-time
of writing there is no shortage of
'water, after the Monday night splash
of rain. •Cellers are full in many
homes, and it will be some time be-
fore things become normal again;
some have benefited by the heavy
rain and recent 'thaw, those with no
spring or running water on their
'farms, and since early winter they
have had the task to haul water for
'their stock. If we take a tip from
the old fishermen on the lake front,
we are in for another six weeks of
hard winter, and the weather roan
could throw in an extra week; old
tuners say, after a thunder storm
in February they would make fur-
ther preparation for gill net fishing.
They would put together their spare
dollars. and .buy thread, and those in
the faniily that could stitch nets,
they would get (busy to put an extra
set of nets in operation. Some of the
1 timers still reinember.thesse stunts'
are fiat agreeable to,,,them now,
or theme is no More fishing along the'
lake only by the few who are licen-
sed the year round.
With ' that and the ground hog
theory, we might as well settle down
and just wait; seven weeks hence
will only be in April, the month of
showers, which will bud out ,tile May
flowers, followed Bance more by the
beautiful summer, the season of
roses. All of this cannot be ascer-
tained. Time will pass, ane time
