played the game without the ser-
vices of two of their regulars,
Ray Mady was out with an injury
to his arm, and Murray Colqu-
houn suffered a smashed mouth
early in the first period, to put
him out for the rest of the game.
However, the locals hope to be
at full strength again tonight,
when they play host to Philips-
burg Chevs, in the Hensall Arena.
Zurich held the Combines in
check in the first period, but in
the second and third stanzas they
faded away under the pressure.
Don Hesse, playing coach for
the Flyers, was the big scoring
gun for his team, with two goals
and two assists. Don O'Brien
scored one goal and had two as-

Suggestions For
Culling Out
Non -Profit Cows
Ontario Department of Agricul-
ture livestock specialists wish
they had a magic formula for cul-
ling out unprofitable cows, It
would make the job a lot easier.
They do suggest you ask your-
self these two questions though:
1. Will it pay me to replace
that cow With a higher producer?
2. Will it pay me to remove
that cow without replacing her?
Most cows produce about half
of their total lactationduring the
first four months. If you want to
keep a cow at the break-even
point of say, 300 pounds of but-
terfat, the cow must produce 150
pounds during her first four
months of lactation. If she does-
n't you can be fairly sure she
won't reach that break-even point.
The break-even point above is
just an example. It's different in
every herd and is a figure you
get from calculating your cost
against your milk cheque, Pick
the one that best suits your herd
and then ask yourself the two
questions.
