CHERY PIE
(Two -crust or Crisscross)
(Mrs. M, Schilbe)
1% tablespoons quick tapioca
2 tablespoons sugar
pinch of salt
1 cup fruit syrup
1 teaspoon butter
3i teaspoon almond extract
2 cups drained pitted cherries
Pastry for either two crust
or crisscross:
Combine tapioca, sugar, salt
and syrup from fruit in sauce-
pan. Cook slowly over direct
heat, stirring constantly until
thickened. Add butter, almond
extract and the cherries. Cool,
then pour into pastry lined pie
plate. Cover with top crust or
with strips of pastry for lattice
top. Place on lowest rack in 450
degree oven and bake for ten min-
utes, then reduce heat to 350 de-
grees and bake another 20 min-
utes.
CHRISTMAS COOKIES

11h cup flour
1 cup sugar ) sift
1/2 teaspoon soda ) all
1/4 teaspoon nutmeg ) together
% teaspoon cinnamon)
s!1 cup butter
1 egg
1 cup cut dates
1 cup mashed banana (ripe)
1%. cups rolled oats
1 cup nuts
candied fruit
Drop on Irreased pan in small
portions. bake at 350 degrees.
QUICK ORANGE BREAD

2 large oranges'
1 cup cold water
1/2 cup sugar
1/e cup cold water
2 cups sifted all-purpose flour
3 teaspoons baking powder
1 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup sugar
2 eggs, well beaten
cup unstrained orange juice
1 teaspoon lemon juice
3 tablespoons melted butter or
shortening.
With a coarse grater grate or-
ange rind. Cover rind with the
one can cold water, bring to a
boil and simmer for 15 minute";
Drain and add r, cup sugar and
the 14 cup water. Simmer gently,

Mrs. Mary Meyer
Word has been received of the
sudden passing of Mrs, Mary Mey-
er, at her residence in Kitchener,
in her 79th year. She was the
daughter of the late Mr, and Mrs.
Menno Kipfer, of the Parr Line,
and they lived at Wagner's Cor-
ner for many years before moving
to Kitchener,
Surviving are her husband,
three sons, two daughters, and six
brothers; John, Michigan; Noah
and David, Iowa; Ezra, Hensali;
Sol and Simon, Minnesota; and
three sisters, Mrs. Thomas Kyle,
Hensel; Mrs. Leesom Desjardine,
Exeter, and Mrs. Jacob Ginge-
rich, Zurich,
Stirring occasionally until mix-
ture is syrupy. Cool, Extract
juice for grated oranges and
measure 1/2 cup untrained for
use in dough mixture.
Measure sifted flour into sifter,
add baking powder and salt and
sift into mixing bowl. Add sugar
and mix well. Adcl orange and
lemon juice to beaten eggs, mix
well, then add melted butter and
orange syrup. Beat well. Combine
liquids with dry ingredients, stir-
ring just enough to blend.
Pour into a well -greased loaf
pan (about 8"x5"x3") and let
stand 20 minutes. Bake in 350 de-
gree oven from 55 to 60 minutes
in centre of middle rack. When
baked turn out on wire rack to
cool.

"Holland Wonder"

`Holland Wonder", a feature-
length, sound -color film produced
;by the T. L. Osborn Evangelistic
Association will be shown on Fri-
day, December 11, in the Zurich
Town Hall, at 8 p.m. Filmed en-
tirely in Holland, "Holland Won-
der" is unique in that no scenes
were staged and no actors used.
Events are captured exactly as
they took place.
This feature-length documen-
tary film of the Holland Crusade
was filmed in sound and color and
is the amazing pictorial record of
modern Europe's greatest spirit-
ual awakening.
Missionary -Evangelist T. L. Os-
born, of Tulsa, Oklahoma. produc-
er and narrator of this film, has
conducted mass evangelical cam-
paigns in 70 countries, drawing
unprecedented crowds. The ef-
fects of his campaign are clearly
evidenced in this dramatic film.
"Holland Wonder" will be pre-
sented by Elmer Gerber a co-op-
erating evangelist with the Os-
born Association. The public is
invited and there is no admission
charge.
