Are Guests at Hensall W.I. Meeting

Mr. H. A. Sowerbutts, Clarkson,
Importer of Bretby Art Pottery,
outlined the origin and history of
pottery made in England, at the
November meeting of the Hensall
Women's Institute, held in the
Sunday School rooms of the Un-
ited Church on Wednesday even-
ing, November 11. Mr. Sowerbutts
had on display some very beauti-
ful pieces of pottery, which many
of the members purchased, with

Prior to Marriage
Miss Mae Coleman, RR 1, Zur-
ich, only daughter of Harvey
Coleman, Reeve of Stanley Town-
ship, and Mrs. Coleman, whose
marriage to Orval Schilbe, took
place in Varna United Church,
Saturday, November 14, was hon-
ored at several prenutial events.
Mrs. Douglas Miles, Clinton,
wife of Huron County's Agricul-
tural Representative, entertained
at her home for Miss Coleman
and other members of the agri-
cultural office staff, of which the
bride is a member. Former busi-
ness associates of the staff were
also present.
Friends and relatives of the
bride attended a miscellaneous
shower at the home of Mrs. Lorne
Lawson, RR 1, Clinton.
In the Stanley Township hall
at Varna, the community of which
the bride has been a resident all
her life, presented her with a cop-
per kitchen set. Over 110 attend-
ed the event at which an address
was read by Miss Dorothy Turn-
er, and the presentation of the
gift made by Misses Marion and
Ruth Turner, Varna.
Mrs. Coleman entertained at a
trousseau tea in honor of her
daughter's approaching marriage.
The bridegroom's mother received
with Miss Coleman and her mo-
ther. Registering guests were Miss
Ann Stephenson, Varna, and Miss
Lynnda Scotchmer, Bayfield.
The tea table was covered with
a hand -crocheted cloth, centred
with a silver vase of pink carna-
tions. Pouring tea were Mrs.
Gladys Coleman, Varna; Mrs. J.
B. Lavin, Clinton, aunt of the
bride; Mrs. Jean McKinley, RR
1, Zurich, great-aunt of the bride;
and Mrs. Ken Baker, Dashwood,
sister of the bridegroom.
Serving in the tea room were
Miss Marion Turner, Miss Doro-
thy Turner, Miss Ruth Turner, all
of Varna; Mrs. Anson McKinley,
Zurich; Mrs. Lloyd Bender, Cred-
iton; Mrs. Jack Holmes, Clinton;
Miss Sharon Reder, RR 1, Bay-
field. Assisting were Mrs. Anson
Coleman, Mrs. Clarence Stephen-
son, Mrs. Ralph Turner, Mrs.
Alice Webster, all of Varna; Mrs.
Campbell McKinley, RR 1, Zur-
ich; Mrs. John Scotchmer, RR 3,
Bayfield, and Mrs. Eileen Consitt,
Varna. Mrs. Lorne Lawson, RR
1, Clinton; Mrs. Ray Huether,
Clinton; Miss Helen Wilson, Brus-
sels, and Mrs. Gordon Coleman,
RR 1, Zurich, displayed the gifts
and trousseau.

President Mrs. Fred Beer, who
chaired the meeting, introduced
the speaker. Seventy-five mem-
bers and guests were present,
which included members of the
Zurich Women's Institute. In an-
swer to the roll call, to donate a
get well card, there was a gener-
ous response. A. donation was
voted to the church in apprecia-
tion of use of the school room.
Contributing to the program
was •a humorous reading, "The
Mustard Plaster" by Mrs. Newell
Geiger, Zurich; a lovely solo, "God
Gives Us Homes" by Mrs. A. M.
Amacher, Zurich, accompanied at
the piano by Mrs. Grace Harpole,
Hensall; and a delightful piano
selection by Mrs. Laird. Mickle, in
which she played several songs of
long ago, which were popular hits.
Miss Greta Laramie directed sev-
eral community songs. Mrs. Geo-
rge Hess gave courtesy remarks
to the speaker, and all those who
assisted with the program. Mrs.
Leonard Erb, president of Zurich
WI, expressed thanks for a lov-
ely evening.
Mrs. E. Norminton, assistant
secretary, will take over the du-
ties of secretary for Mrs. R. M.
Peck, who leaves this month for
Arizona, where they will spend
the winter. Members are asked to
bring a cash donation to the Dec-
ember meeting.

George Hess and Mrs. Maude
Hedden; hostesses, Miss Phyllis
Case and Mrs. James Bengough.
