"Revocation" isn't one of the most common words in the Eng- lish language but it is certainly going to become better known in Huron and Perth counties before November 30. This is the legal term to des- cribe repeal of the Canada Tem- perance Act. When the electors of the two counties voted to adopt the CTA before the first world war they were actually voting to bring •t II of the Act into force 1--F-Wa 6 -9 rt Baa SUPPLIES }tglcilCH IC LUMBIEFt b BUILDERS clal ALUMNI' STORM WINDOWS With Self -Storing Screens Only Meterologist Speaks to Kin At Hensall • (By our Hensall Correspondent) Mr. Bush, senior meterologist, RCAF Station Centralia, was bring on and conduct the vote and Part II is the Canada Tem- perance Act itself, as we now have it in the. two counties). Now the issue before the elec- tors is what the lawyers would call "revocation of Part II of the GTA" but this means exactly the same as "repeal," a much more popular word. The ballot to be used on Mon- day, November 30 has on it two spaces. In one of these the voter should place a plain X with the black lead pencil provided in the voting booth. In the top space appear the word "FOR THE REVOCATION" and an X in this space indicates the voter's desire to repeal the CTA and bring in the Ontario Liquor Control Act. An X in the bottom space indicates the voter's preference for the CTA. Huron and Perth are the last two counties in Ontario that are still under the CTA. A total of 30 counties and three cities have voted it out, most of them by large majorities. The most re- cent votes were in the District of Manitoulin, which voted the Act out of force in 1949 and Peel county where it was rejected by over 60 percent of the electors two years later. Teachers Present Gifts To Miss Joyce Fisher The 'teachers and officers of St. Peter's Lutheran Sunday School presented Miss Joyce Fisher, bride -elect of next month, with a silver cream and sugar set at their regular meeting last Thurs- day night, held at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Len Prang. Miss Fisher is a teacher at the Sunday School, as well sbeing the secretary. The presenta- tion address was read by Ed. Datars, while Mrs. Ernie Laidlaw presented the gift. . Plans for the annual Christmas concert of the Sunday School were finalized at the meeting. The program will be presented on Christmas Eve, Thursday, Decem- ber 24. Entire offering received at the annual Christmas program will be donated towards the re- building of the Sunday School department of St. John's Luth- eran Church, Waterloo, which was recently demolished by fire. 1 AFTER REPEAL: Many people care asking . . "What legal Outlets Will We Get After Repeal Of The C.T.A.?" HERE ARE THE FACTS The largest centres in the County ( except Clinton, which is under local option) will be eligible for a government liquor store and brewers retail store without a fur- ther vote. Canadian Legion branches in Hensall and Exeter would be eligible for private club licenses -- also without a vote. BEVERAGE ROOM VOTE NECESSARY Before hotel beverage rooms or other public licenses could be established a further vote would be necessary after the C.T.A. is repealed. These licenses would require approv- al by three-fifths of the electors of each municipality. HURON CITIZENS LEGAL CONTROL COMMITTEE John E.
